Misfits! Great job folding this month, over 6M points for the team for the first time ever. :thumb:That put us in 3rd, 255k pnts behind PPDP, who surged past Laundromatic at the last minute to take the overall by 1704 points...out of 6.3 MILLION! Wow, this was a close race!

426

If there had been just 1 more day in April and I'd been able to do another 6903, who knows? But we were in the lead the morning of the next to last day of the month, and only some last minute big and huge adv drops kept us out of the top spot. So you guys did great!biggrin.gif

BUT....we weren't great enough. We CAN do it you know.wink.gif We lost about 100k pnts early in the month from my swap in for NLM and Builder's addition. Then blazed_1 had some issues with not getting hugeadvs, and wu's lost. rolleyes.gif

We're off of the TC for May (but we WILL fold in the CC, right?), so NOW is the time to fix those little issues you haven't had time to work on. I know blazed_1 is looking to work on his system some more...I'm going to relook at my 970 AND 920 OC to see if there's any more I can squeeze out of them. Builder, hope you have the chance to upgrade to that RASA kit, get your temps down and are able to get back over 4.0Ghz.

If we can squeeze just a few more ppd out of our equipment, make it rock solid stable, and start fast in June, we CAN win this thing! You with me, MISFITS?!!applaud.gifband.gif

Definitely a fun and nerve racking month but I'm glad I can finally shut everything down for a little. Just in time to as the temps are starting to hit the 80's today and 90's by the weekend. With just the 2500k going it doesn't get much warmer in my room but the 6950 turns my room in to a sauna.

I do plan on doing some tinkering with my folding rig but I'm not sure yet what all I'm going to switch around. I want to switch the mobo with the P67 Pro in my gaming rig and see if there's any difference in overclocking and/or maybe look at getting a Z77. I might just try and switch them and see if Windows will still run in my gaming rig with the Extreme4 in there. I'm just not sure if the Windows student upgrade is tied to the mobo or not. Also looking at adding another rad, maybe an ex120/240 just for good measure. Thought about an rx240 but that would probably be overkill.

I will be joining in for CC of course and lets not forget the Bionic event starts on the 5th as well. thumb.gif

So what if I start out at below 13k, then oc to around 14k ppd? would I be be disqualified? Is there a position I can fill with my 6850? I beleive this non-reference card would own almost all other air cooled 6850's. I thought this was a competition. How come I can't compete with higher end components when I chose to buy parts specifically destined for a high overclock? Why is the i7 the high and mighty no matter what? I thought that was the idea of this site.

It is a competition, Builder, but the rules are set up to try to make sure it's an even competition between teams & hardware. Don't worry about any ppd limits...your 980 is in Cat 2 as per the rules. Try to get the most ppd you can from it...but so far there is nobody in Cat 2 that has demonstrated they can break that 13k ppd barrier over an entire month. For example:

Kevdog owned Cat 2 (he is in Division 2). He got a total of 384,235 points for the month. Over 30 days, that works out to 12,807 ppd. ~sizzzle~, the best Cat 2 folder in Division 1, got 372,335 points for a 12,411 ppd average. They both fold on I5-760s.

So let's not worry about the issue until you actually up your OC to enough to go over 13k ppd. Cause what is listed in HFM is NOT what you always actually get (upload/download times, times off folding while you do something to your system, downtime, etc impact and drop it). It's the actually ppd you get over the month. Which in June (with 30 days), would mean you would have to break 390k points to be over 13k ppd for the month. Let's argue the point if you do it. I'm certainly willing to go to bat if you can! thumb.gif

When you come onto a team, you are folding with the equipment that fits your category. Now other folding competitions (like the monthly Foldathon), you're doing ti all for you and can fold anything you want for the compeition. I actually have a 580GTX and a I7-980X that I'm not folding on a team with, although both are great folders. I fold for the team just with the 970 (and for now my 920 to replace Nude_Lewd_Man until he comes back).

If you want to fold your 6850 in the TC, we can probably arrange that. blazed_1 has been folding for amang in that AMD category, and if you get your 6850 up and folding and give us a ppd on it, we can decide if you should fold in that category to replace amang. Still not sure if he is coming back or not, so that may/may not be permanent. If it was permanent, we'd try to find someone to replace you in the Cat 2 category, as the premise is that temp folders are fine to fold in more than 1 category, but NOT permanently. So I can't fold in both I7 categories indefinitely. We need to find someone (if NLM can't come back) to fold in I7-2.

Check my score back in October, first full month on the team with my Q9550, 436k ~14k PPD. biggrin.gif

And amang is Fermi folder, adcantu is AMD. tongue.gif

Thanks for the detailed response. I will figure out my 6850's max overclock today. It came with a 20% overclock but can do much better than that. Two 12v rails feeding it allow for some serious overvolting, and this card just never seems to get hot, so it should be fun to see what I come up with.Considering my recent injuries, I may not have my loop on my 980 by the beginning of the month, so maybe my gpu would be more useful as a stand in at the beginning of the month. I'll post some #'s in the next few days, hfm is giving me some sort of exeption errors right now. Thanks again sstnt. And blazed, any major hardware change and you'r gonna have to call up microsoft to validate your copy of windows.
