My voltage is locked, so I can't OC it (or I would have a long time ago). I'm running the v7 client. Anybody have any ideas on how I can get my numbers up?
edit:
I just saw that the AMD folder for 5-bits is also using a 6870, yet has an average of like 15k. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

They are probably folding on their CPU as well.  If you look at the individual team's stats, you can see what they are doing per day for TC.  The AMD folder for both Laundro, and 5-bits have been getting around 7340 points per day, which is avg for AMD category.

Jake,

I just checked, only points in the Cat, and the best folder (for Just Be Cause) is on a 5850 and is getting 9675 ppd, average. The best 6870 folder (for 5-bits) is getting 8k ppd. You are at 6k ppd...but that might include a slow start the first couple of days. That's effective ppd (what you actually upload that counts for the category).

I think since you cannot OC it (can't adjust core clock, shaders, etc) that you are pretty much stuck with what you have got. Two points on that...first, make sure you've for the BEST driver and the BEST folding client for ppd on your GPU and system. Probably want to research that and test it out. The latest driver isn't necessarily the best for folding..but it might be. Also, the latest folding client may or may not be best. You'd have to test them out.

The Laundro folder on that 6970 is actually only getting about 7k effective ppd right now.

Added: Jake, even if the voltage is locked, are you SURE you can't get a bit more out of her, stable? Have you tried MSI Afterburner to touch things up a bit?

v7 has been known to be the best client for AMD GPU's. Make sure you're foding core 16's. It would say FaHCore: 0x16 on the client. If not, then you need to configure the slot with Name: client-type, Value: advanced.

What program are you using to OC?

Hey guys. Thanks for all the help so far. At work till five, then I'll be able to investigate further. I'll be sure and add that tag. As far as OCing goes I've tried using both precision and afterburner. Both tell me that the voltage is locked. I don't know a whole lot about unlocking/bios flashing. Would it be worth it to try so I can maybe get a small OC out of it?

Da OC your AMD GPU bible: http://www.overclock.net/t/633816/how-to-overclock-your-amd-ati-gpu/0_50

Unless it's an ASUS. I'm seeing cases of ASUS's voltage can only be raised in their GPU Tweaker program. Though I'm also seeing cases of that program being buggy now. I suggested to someone to try their Beta version but I haven't heard back.

That is odd, have you tried setting the "unofficial overclocking" flag to 1 in the MSIAfterburner.cfg file?  I had to do that to OC my hd6950.  It should look like this to enable OCing:

UnofficialOverclockingMode = 1

You also may have to go into the "Settings"  and check the unlock voltage control option.

Yeah, I didn't mentioned that token, because even if you set it to 1, you still get prompted the first time you open AB after enabling the unofficial overclocking.  confused.gif

Ok, so I just sat down at my desk. It looks like I was already folding a 16 core. But to be safe I went ahead and added the tag anyway. I've tried adding that stuff to the afterburner.cfg file. I then tried restarting the program, rebooting, nothing would work. I'll try and play around with it a little more though.

edit:
Working on overclocking right now. Looks like I'll get my core clock up to about 925 MHz from 900. Then I'll work on Mem clock.

2nd edit:
Squeezed 150 MHz out of my mem clock. So while I still need to do a little bit more stability testing, It looks like I'll have a 925 core and 1200 mem. That's coming from a 900 core and 1050 mem. Woo hoo biggrin.gif

Hopefully that'll boost my numbers a little bit.

Hm, odd, the token should have all ready been there, just set to "= " (blank).  I'm pretty new to AMD GPUs so I can't help out much further than that.
