The Misfits - Page 526

Thread Starter
Ok guys...the heck with it. I'm barely breaking 40k ppd and I went over and the Full Auto I7 folder was running those 7XXX wus for 68k ppd!!!mad.gif We cannot afford to lose that much...everything you guys make up, I lose. So I started my 980X (while I was on a wu on my 970 at like 29%), and put my TC passkey in and started it folding. It's doing 41k ppd, so we aren't losing anything. I will let BWG know so if they see I'm using different hardware, they won't throw a fit.

I've upgraded from 10.04 to 11.04...now going to 11.10, then I can upgrade to 12.04 Ubuntu. I will make sure I get the 64 bit version. Then I'll install FAH v7 and get it set up. Hopefully by tomorrow evening (while my 980 folds). Then while the 980X does wus for the team, I will check stability on the 970 and then swap over again.

Sorry for being the anchor, guys. Try to hold us in until I can optimize this thing! redface.gif

I might have to look in to the v7 client as well once you're done. How is 12.04 for folding? I always use 10.10 but it would be nice to upgrade so I can maybe get the onboard graphics working. thumb.gif

I'll let you know. Couldn't get the v7 Client started on the first try, so I'm going to run 12.04 with the v6.34 client to see how that folds, then work on it again tonight. My windows client folded about the same as the ubuntu 10.10 on v6.34.

We're now 106,670 behind Full Auto, and only 43,698 ahead of Just Be Cause. Gotta get something going, soon. rolleyes.gif

We can always just give up in this month when we have about ten days left. That gives us ample time to really set everything up the way it should be. Sstnt is having issues with his PPD, onions has the CPU usage problem, and I still need to mount my H50 and get a stable high overclock. If we can't figure things out soon I think we should leave the last ten days to preparation. We would still be folding but fine tuning the overclocks and doing everything we need but we wouldn't have to worry about giving up a day or two of folding.

I agree. The only issue is that I'm going to be shutting down some time tonight until tomorrow around 6. After that I'll just be waiting on my mounting bracket for the H50 and once that gets there I'm going to take a break for a day and see if I can get this thing to 4.5+. It will be much easier for me to mess with the rig in the next week or so since none of my roommates will be in the apartment.

Yea. I think I'm going to mess with the rig a bit before you guys just because I'll have the time. I have a week by myself in my apartment. Granted I shouldn't need a week but I know I have to wait for my mounting bracket to come in. My car is still in the shop and I should be getting it back today. I'm worried it won't be ready and I want to be there when my mounting bracket shows up. Kinda confusing but if I get my car back today I'm ordering the bracket to be sent to my apartment which should arrive early next week. I'm picking up the Scythe Ultra Kaze fans locally in Blacksburg so I'm definitely hoping to get 4.5-4.7 stable. If I can get that honestly I think I could pull 20K PPD. I'm sitting at 17K right now.

[Edit]
Does anyone happen to have a small phase change unit that one of us could use 24/7?? 24/7 980X at 5.5GHz would put out some nice PPD...

Tell us more, Onions. What happened when you tried to set it up in HFM? You were dropping the hfm webpage into the dropbox public folder on your pc, right?

Installing the H50 and fans shouldn't take more than an hour (depending on how much time it takes to remove your current cooler). Less if you're just hanging the radiator off the back. It'll be working your OC to get it stable that will take the time.

Let me know when you are going to take it down, and we can arrange for me to temp back in with my 920. We can do it the easy way...you pm me your folding name and TC passkey and I'll just fold on that for the time it takes. Let's try to swing it when I'm able to do that and when you've just finished a unit. We'll swap back when I've just finished a unit.

Added: Oops, was confused (again)...have to temp your with my 9800GX2. I'll test it this weekend to make sure it's still folding ok. Funny, one core OCs pretty well folding, the other I pretty much have to run stock clocks. Still, gets 12k ppd or so, enough to keep you in it, VW.

OR, if someone else has something better to run:

• GTX 560 (non-Ti)
