Once I finish tweaking this next kernel, I'll gladly walk you through how to install it. wink.gif

Aaaaaarrrrrggggghhhhh!!!! doh.gifsozo.gifangrysmiley.gif

Where's the smiley of me...KICKIN' the living daylights outta my PC!!! mad.gif

Now I picked up a d@mn 7083 wu...that's gonna take me 16 hours and gives me...get this....10.7k ppd! This folding on a 970 at 4.1Ghz!
I do better than that on my 9800GX2 (11.7k ppd). Made me want to say to heck with you Stanford (for taking away my big & huge advs and my 75-90k ppd) and giving me this junk, and just start BOINCing!

Then, to top it off, since I had been folding for VW but he's back today, I decided to move folding for now over to my 980X. It's good, in windows 7 and FAH v6.34, for about 40-43k ppd. Start to put my OC back in...locked up. Rebooted...started again...shut down. Then in bios it said high temp CPU caused the shutdown. DARN! Now I've got to T/S that. Might be the pump...hope it's not a clog of some kind....don't think it's the level as I can see it in my micro-res and it's high enough.

So I started up my 920 and am folding on it. Yeah...I'm folding on a 920 in the TC in I7-1. mad.gif Gonna get MAYBE 20k ppd...but that's better than 10.7k so what the heck.

Will work on it some more tonight, but I've gotta come back in to work tonight so won't have much time. Anybody know anyone that want's to take my I7-1 place for a bit while I sort this out...or we're gonna really ground. redface.gif

I'm back and folding. I finally got everything set up. woke up a bit early and have everything up and running with the VM. As soon as I get the mounting bracket I'm going to go ahead and install the H50. From the looks of it I'm going to try to remove one of the side vents and just feed the block/pump through there and have the radiator sitting outside. I'm not really sure if I want to run two Scythe Ultra Kaze fans because this is an HTPC and it will be out in the living room. I'm going to check and see what kind of temps I get with the H50 and stock fan and if I can push it a bit more to around 4.3 or so I will keep it there at least. Not completely sure how the roommates would feel about two of those things going 24/7.

Do you have the bigadv flag and max-packet-size flag? Did you actually select how many cores/threads vs the default of -1 (let the client choose)? 32.5K on a 8014 is about average tpf without any tweaks. I'm on a long string a 8049's that net about 48K. It seems like it mostly comes down to which server you're assigned because elchucko has had a string of 70XX units worth about 63-70K ppd.

Not 32.5K...32.5 SECONDS tpf....which results in like 17k ppd on that 8014. And I'm on a stupid 7083 giving me less than 11k ppd!

I've checked. all 12 threads are folding at 100%. I think the flags are set correctly, but there's stuff all OVER the place about how they are all supposed to be set in v7 and how.
I'll be happy to look at the guide when it comes out...until then, I can't get specific info on what the settings are all supposed to be, and how to set them. Thx!

Are you using the v7 client in windows? The flags are actually pretty easy. All you have to do is go to do is right click on the client and go to configure from there you have to look for where you adjust the slots. I don't remember exactly since I'm just going off the top of my head. Also did you turn off the GPU?

[Edit]
On a side not ethis HTPC case really does have some serious airflow problems. When I have the top of the case off it is in the high 70s and low 80s.I put the top of the case on for a little while and before I knew it some of the cores reached all the way to 94C. hahha.

No, I am running v7 client in Ubuntu 12.04 native. And I'm not GPU folding on the system. Yeah, in windows it wouldn't be a problem, in linux, well, much more so.

I could see you'd have some issue with WCing in that case, VW. Just doesn't have the space for fans/radiator, etc. Ya know..you could get a cheap case for maybe $40 with MUCH better airflow. wink.gif
Don't go cheapskate on us, now. biggrin.gif

Well I haven't even started working yet and I've already blown too much money. Managed to spend $90 at the bar Saturday night which I don't fully remember. I'm currently trying to ease up on the spending and the mounting bracket alone cost me nearly $20. SHipping cost about the same as the part. Like I said though I'm going to just run the radiator outside of the case and feed the block part of it through one of the vents. That way I can close up the case yet still get cool air running through the radiator. The only issue is that to install the new cooler I literally have to take the entire rig apart including hard drives, optical disk drives, GPUs, etc. This time I'm going to take it apart and overclock everything without having installed any components in the case except for the motherboard. That way I can easily redo the mount if it is coming out poorly temp wise. IN the next few days I'm going to pick up the two Ultra Kaze fans and see how they sound out in the living room. THis silverstone case is great except there is no intake at all. I'm thinking I could swap the two back 80mm fans to intake which would help with temps but it really isn't all that necessary once I get the H50 installed. I'm currently sitting at 17.5K PPD when I'm not touching the computer so the extra OC should easily get me to around 19K at least. If I can get a solid 4.5GHz I could easily be putting out more then your 980X with the issues you've been having. haha. None of my roommates will be here until this Saturday and the only other people that comes in here are the lady friends. As long as I know they aren't coming over I can just leave the components out on the floor while I take care of things with the OC.I know Desert Rat won't be too happy with my 19K PPD (hopefully at least). hahaha. Also how's the room doing now that your GPU isn't acting as a second/third heater in the middle of August??

On a side note away from the TC our living room set up is going to be pretty sweet. Right now I'm looking at a 32" Vizio 1090P with an HD box, got my sig rig sharing my movie folder and iTuens across my home network, one of these Onkyo receivers, a front monitor, two 4 foot tall tower speakers, and a twelve inch sub. The stereo won't be set up for about two weeks but I'm looking forward to it. For parties we have the fraternities two PA speakers and amp. Overkill for a smaller apartment? probably. I have no idea what brand they are but they have got to be better then just running off of the TV speakers.
