I'm putting together that 3930k system, H80i cooling, 16GB (4x4) of 1866Mhz Gskill Ripjaws RAM, all on a Rampage IV Extreme MB, Thermaltake 850w modular PSU. OS will be on a OCZ 115GB ssd, storage on a Caviar Black 2TB drive. Hoping to get 4.6Ghz initially for CPU folding ONLY 24x7 (have a PNY GTX650 I'm putting in for video but NOT for folding). Probably going to run Native Ubuntu, just not sure of the version. May be doing TheKraken and running a corehack to do -bigadv if I can get that 4.6Ghz.
The only holdup right now is that this board requires an 8-pin, a 6-pin AND a 4-pin power connector! Talk about a power hog! And I don't have a single power cable with a 4-pin connector. So I ordered an adaptor from Newegg today and hope it will come in by the weekend. Otherwise, I won't have it up until next week. Another issue is the Case I have for it has the cutout on the MB in the place where the CPU socket is on the 1366, et al board. Which (because of those extra RAM slots), IS NOT where it is at on this board. I am hoping the backplace for the H80i will still fit, as the standoffs on this Zalman case are VERY short.
Anyway...one guy indicated he was running bigadvs with this CPU and board and getting over 100k ppd...so THERE'S something to look forward to! FOLD HARD, MISFITS!
