Battlefield 1942 HELP!

Thread Starter
I'm trying to host a dedicated Battlefield 1942 server on the internet and then join using another computer on my network. I can host games fine over LAN and join from all 3 other computers in the house but once I host on the internet, none of them can see it in the games list.

But, if I tell it to add server and type in the ip of the dedicated server computer then I will get in fine...its just not listed on the internet games. Would this be because all the computers are on the same network/internet connection but couold other people still be able to see the game? I had it up for a couple hours but no one joined so Im not sure.

Really appreciated any help! Thanks

You probbly need to open up the port on your router. What kind of router do you have?

I've honestly never had any success with hosting any types or servers behind my linksys router. BF2 servers/CS:Source servers/HTTP servers/FTP servers... anything..

There is a way to forward your router somehow.. but I figured out my own way... (this probally wont work for you)

I have a motorola sb5100 cable modem. it has 1) ethernet out, 2) usb out.

I use the ethernet out to go into the router and the usb out to go into my computer that I'm running the server on. I get my standard static ip from my isp (not a local ip.. ie) 192.168.1.x) and... it works

Look around on google... how to run a server behind a router? I'm sure there is a way to do it.

Sounds like firewall issues with getting the game to the gamespy server listing. Also, make sure you have the "internet" enabled in the server settings. This is the option that puts your server on the gamespy listing.
