MiniFridge Case?

Thread Starter
Anyone ever make a PC case out of a mini fridge? I would never do it (or atleast I don't think I would), but the thought just went through my mind,Has anyone tried this before?.... I would assume it would easily keep most PC setups very cool. Just curious to see what reactions, thoughts, and experiments everyone has.

People ask this all the time. It cant be done - the mini fridges are designed to keep things cool - not extract heat. It just wouldnt work

There are several threads on this subject. A minifridge, or even a reguar fridge just aren't designed to remove large amounts of heat, only keep things cool.

This has been discussed, and there is a FAQ about it.

There are a few reasons why you wouldn't want to do it though. First is condensation, which will be easily created and difficult to prevent.

Second is that a refrigerator is meant to keep things cool, not cool them. In other words, a computer case would keep the compressor running 24/7, meaning more electricity, and a broken refrigerator, faster.

Seriously it would burn out the compressor within 2-3 days if you had it on all the time!! Might be an okay idea with a HUGE compressor for a suicide shot but then dry ice or LN2 are much better.

I didn't make a case out of the fridge but I used the heatsink + in my minifridge to chill my case I have all round temp drops on mobo GPU system Processor the lot all it took was abit of DIY case modding with an 80mm fan X2 3800 fan and the bits out of the fridge, it is all located where a the floppys should go.

Temps are as follows (as they r now under load with folding and eve online etc)

Processor 31
HDD 25
GPU 34
MOBO - 25
System - 24

Please also bare in mind some components are clocked

Bad pic i know but i had to use my phone for pic
