Confirmed: Pentium D 900 @ 4GHz beats FX60 - Page 7

Yeah, this thread made me feel like I was watching a ping pong match. LOL

Looks like my plan to get a 940 the end of this year are right on track based on those price drops. Wonder what my 920 will be worth? LMAO

Just take the time and read the OCAU article.

I read it, and I didn't think that it was an in depth enough review. It only overclocked the FX60 and 955EE. This thread is about the 920 overclocked beating the FX60... Also I questioned its accuarcy because a stock 840 easily beat the overclocked 955EE... That just doesn't seem to flow.

Looks lik the Pentium D 965EE (3.73Ghz) is beating the FX60 in most benchmarks, although it is still getting beat in games. (That probably because they had HT on, HT should be turned off for games).

i know the P4 whatever supports Viiv.

But when the P4 is dropped, Viiv will be a CPU in itself.

a whole new CPU.

to you intel fan boys, the ghz is every thing "oh i got my P4 up to 3.7890876ghz ah ha i have a better computer!!"

the A64 has a better architecture, and no matter what AMD has, Intels always better for you guys.

Whatever.

Higgins cmon now, don't have such a biased opinion man. Noone gives a crap much about clock speed, except how it pertains to performance. People compair things as-- well this intel system at that clock speed, performs about as good as this amd sytem at that clock speed. I think your opinion that intel people are all hung up on clock speed, as an end all be all to performance, is plain silly and it's just not true.
Almost everyone knows that an amd system will beat an intel system at the same clock speed. I have no idea where your opinion is coming from. Don't be an intel hater , intels and amds are both good systems, period.

And yes, the amd 64 has better architecture, and performs more ops per clock than the current intels, so the intels need more clock speed to keep up. So what, the next intels will also do more ops per clock and then beat the amd's, for awhile. They'll keep outdoing each other, and yes both will come out with great systems, time after time. So IMO, being an intel or amd hater is just irrational, and not thought out well. Just my 2cents.

Im not saying to see if 1 CPU beats the other but Im talking about overall performance gains by both, because in the end what we are all looking for is better performance or better FPS or what have you. I just think a test like that would have a more realistic outcome.
