SSD Health Status...

Does anybody know if CrystalDiskInfo Health Status is accurate? I can't make the ocz smart mon tool to work and CDI is showing me 85% life.. this ssd is only 3 days old. Just trying to learn how to maintain and monitor my ssd's life...

EDIT: Btw, when I ran OCZ Smart Tool it gave me an error... Drive \\\\.\\PHYSICALDRIVE1 has only 0% remaining life left.

My Agility was at 86% when I got it new and is still at 86% 10 months later. I have read somewhere that Crystal disk info is not accurate but it shows the same value as the Indilinx status tool so I'm not sure, they're obviously reading the same value and showing it as health. I haven't tried the OCZ one yet, I'll need to recall my login to give it a go but I'm sure it will say the same thing. Personally it doesn't concern me, the drive benches normally and seems to have its full capacity.

Darren9 ty for the reply. At least I know someone out there also saw their health status under 90% when their ssd was very new. It made me start to wonder if it was not normal, since I didn't see any replies. It's also now obvious that CDI is not accurate after learning that yours still showed 86% after 10 months

I just got the OCZ one as well, it shows Status OK and Life Remaining 86% - same as the others.

Try loging off for a little bit and let TRIM do it's work, thats if your drive's FW supports it...
You prob have been writing things like crazy to the drive...

Trim works when you delete a file in windows 7, its garbage collection that works when you log off for those drives.

And all the health status programs for drives cannot predict when the drive will fail, they merely use the number of read/write cycles to date to compare against an industry "standard".

Both of your drives are fine, just make sure you keep up with the ssd threads on ocztechnology.com for tips on the drives.

Which the OP has a 60GB SSD and has prob been installing/uninstalling crap and never lets TRIM do it's job...

TRIM only works when the system is log'ed off, correct me if I am wrong...

Again trim works in windows 7 only, when you delete a file, it writes a "0" to that sector of the drive. Garbage collection is a poor man's trim, it works during the drives idle time to do the same thing but it's not as precise as trim commands.

To all posters.

The OP has a Sandforce-based drive, not Indilinx-based... So "idle garbage collection" (logoff etc) suggestions won't help at all.

Regarding the "health" value what is this? from S.M.A.R.T. ?
Does anyone know where Crystal gets the information?
