Good, cheap pad for TactX Mouse (Avago 9500)

Well I'm back to square one for choosing a mousepad. I am leaning toward the SteelSeries QCK, but have some doubts based on what I hear about laser tracking on cloth. I'm only willing to spend about $10-15, so that makes things a little more difficult. I would really appreciate any good recommendations and why you think its good.

You will only notice negative accel problems with a cloth pad if you use a low sensitivity that forces you to move the mouse quickly. And I doubt you will find a hard mouse pad for $15, especially shipped.

Thats what I'm realizing about hard pads. I have it set for 2200 dpi right now, not sure what you qualify as low sensitivity.

It means what sensitivity you use, you can have 2200DPI and use a low in game sensitivity to make the mouse move slowly. You have to consider your DPI AND in game sensitivity setting, so ignore both and just measure. For an example if it takes you 8+ inches on your mouse pad to turn a full 360 degrees in game then I would consider you to be a low sensitivity gamer. Because of all the movement it would require you to move the mouse fast to turn around quickly. Fast movements with the avago 9500 on a cloth pad = negative acceleration.

If you use a higher sensitivity and it only takes you 3-4 inches for a full 360 then you probably wont be moving the mouse fast enough for the negative acceleration to kick in.

Oh I see. Thanks for the explanation. I generally leave games at default sensitivity, and if anything I bump them down some. So that makes me low sensitivity.

For hard mats in my price range I just started looking at the Razer Sphex. I can get one for $14 shipped from ebay, so I may end up going with that, as much as I dislike Razer.

Yeah I totally forgot about the sphex, its kinda like.... sticky sandpaper though lol. It should work though. Another option is the steelseries 4HD for $20 but its pretty damn small.

You say you're low sens gamer but 8 inches/360° is much, do you really move your arm more than that? If you have not measured, you should.

No, I don't move my hand 8" that would be ridiculous. But I do not play at nearly as high a sensitivity as other people. I would rather get something I'm confident I won't have problems with. For the price, if it doesnt work out I jst have to deal with it rather than sending back. Yes, I had already looked at the Xtrac, but no way im paying $25+ on a mousepad. I went ahead and got the sphex, hopefully all will be well.
