1. Check your sound panel for mute.

2. Check the Device Manager for it's presence.
If it's there, remove it. Reboot and hopefully it will be recognized and reinstall correctly provided you have the correct drivers installed and it's enabled in the BIOS.

Ran the memory ttest with no problems, put in my old hd again and booted off that and it still didnt work

I plugged in some headphones to the back of the mobo and no sound, think this could be a hardware issue?

Indeed, if you have overclocked and taken the PCI bus past a stable motherboard level which is ~37MHz then you could easily have damaged the PCI onboard sound.

I have seen this done many times before there were PCI/AGP locks and most people would disable onboard sound and install a card such as a Sound Blaster Live! which was well known to work at ~45+MHz. They disabled onboard NIC cards also and went with PCI Nic Adapters. This way if a piece of hardware was damaged, it was not the mainboard pieces.

Since the advent of hardware pci/agp locks, most look for boards with this ability. This is why there is a lock. Otherwise why would there be a lock? It is there to keep the more fragile PCI/AGP devices in spec while you take the less fragile processor out of spec.

Update Bios too 1.5
Go to website and download most recent revison of audio drivers from Asrock website the ones on the disk are old

Then give it another go

Does windows detect your onboard sound? Which AsRock Sata2 board do u have? The AGP/PCI E one? or the SLI one?

Its the AGP/PCIE one, and I'm running 1.50 now on the BIOS, so I might just get a sound card for it here soon.
