Valve, Multi-Core Rendering. On or Off?

Thread Starter
I noticed that in some games, this is either turned on or off. I think it runs better off because Half-Life EP's 1&2 runs perfect with everything fully maxed and V-Sync on and is constantly smooth. In Left 4 Dead, everything is maxed with V-Sync and when I first got it, I think it ran smoother than when I updated something and it turned Multi-Core Rendering on. I notice minor slow downs but it still runs amazing for maxed as well. Should I just keep it off?

i leave it on in Garry's Mod. it stabilizes frame rate sometimes when the **** hits the fan.

now all valve needs to do is truly thread their engine.

So, It's for multi GPU and not multicore CPU's? I've always turned it on, never really noticed a difference.

I always thought it was for the CPU and Shacknews say that too.

I'm pretty confident that multicore rendering is a CPU setting and not GPU. That being said, I always turn it on, not sure if it has a performance impact.
yes, it is for cpu. since source is mainly a cpu based engine for now.

GPU's have hundreds of cores... Its not for GPU's.

Its for CPU's.
