I reseated my zalman perfectly and I still get awfully high temps - Page 2

Doesn't show fan speeds, or old stock speed. (Sorry should've asked what temps he was getting with stock heatsink and fan.

I've seen some fan mates go bad, or motherboards not provide right voltage to fan, when on a speed limiter. Causes 7700 to stop, istead of go at low rpm. Now, that should remedy itself depending upon temp target set in bios, but hell. a visual check is nice. My OC'd Venice will actually run fine at idle, with the 7700 stopped completely. If I let my board control fan w/default settings.

Lol too slow.. I guess. Yeah check for throttling. Can you post a pic of the 7700 seated?

If the temps are real, it will begin thermal throttling, and you can use Throttle Watch to confirm this.
Aight, I'll use that thing and play a game. I'll post a screenshot of both speedfan and throttle watch.

It sounds like the cooler isn't sitting flat. I had the same problem with a waterblock once. Try removing the cooler without twisting it around and look at the pattern on the bottom of it to be sure it is a full square. Even a little drop in the center should spread to the whole heatspreader if it is making good "flat" contact with the cpu. When I install AS5 i use my finger inside a corner of a baggie to spread it out with and it is so thin you can see the shadow of the writing on the cpu.

Amd runs a lower frequency, so is thus cooler. you cant really compare amd temps to P4 temps.

Quick question, as I am unfamiliar with Intel Ocing... What temps are you hoping for? Should you get?

Thanks

This was while playing flatout. Would you like me to play some more "cpu intensive" game?

LoL... i have heard the same, if it's a prescott, get some eggs and bacon... But still, something seems wrong here... wait... maybe not.

How far over stock voltage are you? a little bit of as5 too much isn't going to do this. It takes a massive screw up if the temps are really that far out. the weight of the 7700 will smoosh it out of the way. remember, you screw that puppy down.
