Overclock on a AMD 3200+ - Page 2

what do you mean "lock your bus frequencies"? How can you do that?
My FSB is at 210. I have "Agressive Timming" enabled aswell. I have 3 Dimms of Kingston PC400 ram 512x3. They are all the same. When i used CPU-Z under max values under 200mhz it says "3-3-8-3". I have no idea what these numbers are. Under 166mhz the values are lower.

Oh and when i OC'd my system to 2.2 I ran prime95 for about 8 hours and no errors...but when i started playing a game it would crash

O.k so my first steps are what?
1) Lock frequencies (no idea how)
2) Set memory speeds to 166mhz (Is Auto settings good?)
3) CPU and PCI frequencies Async (i have no check on this)
4) PCIe 100mhz
5) Increase Voltage of CPU (What about Chipset Voltage and Memory Voltage?)
6) Increase FSB

Having your pci-e at 100mhz is keeping it locked, no need to go any higher than that almost ever. Having ya ram on a 166 (333) divider is going to keep your ram below the 200mhz standard until you reach the point of htt (fsb) when it gets back to 200 mhz (ddr400). Running 1.5 gigs of ram is going to keep ya rig running in single channel as apposed to dual channel (faster) with only 2 sticks of ram in the correct slots for it to be enabled. Depending on your gaming the extra ram is probably better. (surprised it is working) Dont go increasing your cpu voltage too much, absolute minimum changes if any at all untill you learn what you are doing, you dont want to ruin your cpu do you. Take it easy and have a look through this guide and try to take it in. You can ask questions whenever needed

I wouldn't worry about putting it on a divider, Crash runs his 3700 on a divider and has one of the highest superpi scores on the site.

Put ya ht frequency at 4x up to 250 fsb and after 250 go down to 3x. When going past about 250 fsb you might need to start tweaking a few other knobs to keep it stable, see how you go.

Alright boys and girls i think i've figured it out. I think it's my ram. I can't do anything like 6x multiplier x 300mhz fsb (1800ghz declock). I can't even do anything like 230mhz fbs The ram that i have is
2x256 and 2x512 = 1.5gig (4 dimm)
Kingston Value Ram model DVR400X64C3A/512
Are there any recommendations on really good ram that will forsure run at like 300+ mhz FSBs?

Alright scratch that lost post. I've now gotten it to 270 fsb x 8x multiplier = 2160 mhz. Is this good? I haven't increased the voltage yet or memory voltage. My memory is now running at 233mhz.
I set HT to 3x
Ram 166mhz
FSB 270
Multi 8x

Would lowering the memory to 133mhz make for even more OC?

Do you know how far you can go with that ram before it is unstable? Have the ram on a good divider and get ya cpu multi to 10x and then you will get some higher cpu speeds. Having a 10 x multi means that you will hit 2500mhz at 250 htt(fsb). At 2500mhz you will need more vcore. For divider settings check this out, very helpful.

Yor ram is going to be letting you down running 4 sticks, you are going to have to keep it reletaviely slow

Alright it seems that i have hit the limit of my cpu (i think)
I was able to do 2160ghz with a 270fsb and ram set at 166mhz. Even if i set the mutliplier at 10x 210....this is about the max i will get.
Will OC'ing the Chipset offer any better OC results? Or should i leave this alone? And i don't see an option for the CPU/RAM.
Oh and how do you calculate HTT?
