I'll get the ball rolling on this

Why I joined BOINC?
I used to be a "folder", but then I found BOINC and soon, i found a great project called "Rosetta@Home". I preferred it over Folding@Home for two reasons:
1) My computer at the time took forever to do Folding@Home work units. With rosetta@Home, work units would complete in 3-4 hours time
2) You customize how long YOU wanted the work units to compute.
I still ran Folding@Home on the side, but Rosetta@Home was the dominant distributed computing project.
Later on, when I got a graphic card capable of running Folding@Home, I ran it on the F@H project and compared to similar Nvidia cards, my ATI card was rather useless. I once again found BOINC projects that utilized ATI Cards (Collatz Conjecture). From there, I was exposed to the world of BOINC. I switched fulltime to BOINC mainly because there is a wide variety of projects ranging from mathematics to climate modelling, to biology and everything in between.

What projects am I currently running?
Collatz Conjecture (ATI), POEM@Home, and PrimeGrid

What hardware am I running BOINC software on?
My sig rig, and my laptop (1.9GHZ AMD Athlon x2 on Windows 7 Home Premium x64)

I joined BONIC for the better use of ATI GPU's compared to folding.

I am running Peom@Home and DNETC@Home right now. I will have Collatz up again when I get the 2 comps in my sig setup.

well i started mainly because i was interested in folding but knew the small amounts of ppd on an ati card. i wanted to contribute in any way i could but thought that folding wasn't my thing on this current machine. then i saw a post from gamer11200 about Boinc. i read up on it and saw how easy it was to setup and all the great projects that they offered for cpu's, ati and nvidia.

So i joined the Boinc OCN team to do my part and help in any way possible.

Current Projects:
Collatz - At Times
POEM - CPU
DNTEC - ATI
Aqua
Rosetta

Hardware:
Current Sig Rig.

9 months since last post!!

New BOINC user here, I had no idea this existed until today, that makes me kinda sad as that implies none of my friends knows about this or just didn't care to tell me.

1)Why you joined BOINC
-Mainly because my g/f has type 1 Diabetes
-Live in student house (all utilities covered in fixed rent), landlords will wonder how the house is drawing so much power

2)What projects you are currently running
-Superlink@Technion
-SIMAP

3)What hardware you are running the BOINC software on
-Currently running on my i3-350M 2.27GHz laptop (specs in profile)
-I also have an old P4 desktop and my sig rig which I'm considering running either BOINC or Folding@Home

I first got into this concept back in 99' when seti@home first release their screensaver that allowed you to use your idle cpu time to process data sound from space to help discover extra-terrestrial life. it wasnt till seti@home moved to boinc did i know of its existence.
In 2004 i found climateprediction, but due to my slow computer at the time and climates ginormous work units. I over time stopped processing for them. In 2005 i found Rosetta@home and decided to work for them to help find a cure for cancer. At that time i was back at my parents on their dialup and could only get workunits every now and then. Along the way from then till now I tried seti@home beta and many others. If you look at my profile you will see that I have tried more projects since I have been here at OCN. By far my favorite project yet is World Community Grid where i can process data for many different causes under one roof. I really like that. For gpu work I like Dnetc and Milkyway@home. My friend Bal3wolf has been right along with me since the early 2000's running rosetta and seti@home. He is also a major player in OCN Folding Team.
As far as what computers I am running all this stuff on, well......can you keep a secret? So can I To everyone else; hope you guys have a good day, and happy crunching!

-Why I joined BOINC

Like DarkRyder I started using Seti back in 2000 and been doing off and on over the years. When I decided to restart it again they had switched over to boinc which I found interesting since I was able to run a couple of projects simultaneously and not have to think about load balancing.

-What projects am I currently running
SETI and World Communty Grid on my Cpu
Milkyway on my GPU

-What hardware you are running the BOINC software on
Only running it on my main rig:
CPU: AM2 5800+ at stock
Motherboard: Biostar 550 SE
Memory: 5Gb ADATA DDR2 800
GPU: ASUS 4870 Dark Knight edition
Hard drive: Intel X25-M 120gb, 2 Tb seagate
PSU: Antec 750 watt TruePower New

Hello i'm Hugo.

I'm new to all of this, just started today and i'm kinda LOST and I think my GPU is not working 100% but well o.O

-I joined BOINC cause I never shutdown my pc so why just let my pc idle when I can do something that matters? =D
-I think i'm running Rosetta lol
-i5 750, 8gb mem, sapphire 6970. ( Soon with a 2600k to get better results in boinc and folding.)

edit: Oh I think im starting to get it lol running primegrid only with gpu when i'm using the computer and primegrid and rosetta when i'm sleeping =]

edit 2: no way to boinc while using the computer =[ my MOUSE LAG'S! hahahahahhah

Mouse lags from GPU BOINCing... pause that while you use the computer and that should fix the issue.
