New BOINCers! Introduce yourself to the OCN BOINC Team - Page 2

I discovered WGC back in about 2005 and also started running Distribute.net back then... then the divorce... then not much until I finally got a new rig put together this year.

Soo, main system is SIG rig, 2 other AMD systems on the side, one is backup to main rig.

I participate in the following:

Aqua@home
boincsimap
CAS@home
Collatz Conjecture
EDGeS@Home
Einstein@Home
eon2
GPUGRID
Milkyway@home
Poem@Home
PrimeGrid
QMC@HOME
rosetta@home
SETI@home
Spinhenge@home
World Community Grid
yoyo@home

Pheew... 17 total, 5 or 6 are GPU only...

Always liked helping out any way I could, especially cancer research (Mother died of it, brother and sister had it... now cured we hope).

I'm almost 57 yo, semi-retired design engineer, pilot, and generally a hands on sort of guy...

Nothing special about me except I have slightly less grey/white hair than some other folks my age... LOL!

That's me about a 1.5 years ago... still the same, 'cept more white hair... LOL!

PS: ABBY is the licky-monsters name... she belongs to a friend of mine...

not all projects work the gpu in the same way. try a different project that supports your gpu and the stutter will go away.

Why I joined BOINC
To do my part to accelerate medical and scientific research.
Also, I like the scheduling, I can have it run while I'm not using my PC.

What projects am I currently running

World Communty Grid (50%) and Rosetta (25%) on my CPU
Einstein on CPU (25%) and GPU (100%)

What hardware you are running the BOINC software on
PC1: 2500K, GTX 460
PC2: Phenom II 940 x 4, ATI 3450

I guess its about time I formally introduce myself. I joined the BOINC team back in November 2010 under the name OCNfranz. I had just built a new dedicated folding rig and I decided to use the CPU for BOINC projects instead of F@H.

Why I joined BOINC
I have been an avid folder for a couple of years now and I was looking for other ways I could contribute to medical research.

What projects am I currently running
WCG-All Projects [50%]
Rosetta [50%]

What hardware you are running the BOINC software on
E8600@4.25GHz intermittently
1055T@3.8GHz 24/7
~3500-4500 RAC,PPD, or whatever you BOINCers call it.

I am already planning a dedicated BOINC rig for later this year. I am just waiting to see what AMD has up its sleeve and/or Sandy Bridge prices to drop more.

I am currently a physics major in college. I like what SETI@home and AQUA@home are doing, so I decided to put an old computer to use that I recently acquired that I am using for a webserver. It didn't get much use as a webserver, so I run BOINC software when it is not serving anything. The computer itself is a PowerMac G5 dual 1.8GHz, so it is a bit different than what other people are using, but it's something. I am currently building a desktop that I will be using for it as well, but probably not as dedicated-ly.

nice. what OS are you running on it. How does the boinc client run on it?

I just joined the site because I have been researching my new computer and I plan to water cool it. The computer in my sig is mostly being delivered this week. Hoping to have it up and running this weekend.

I used to do seti @ home when it first came out, but drifted away from it after a while. I had started using the world community grid again about a month ago, but while researching my new computer, I saw the people on here donating their extra CPU/GPU cycles to research and joining a team seemed like a cool thing to do.

Currently signed up with Collatz Conjecture with my:
Xeon E5405 ghz at work
Core 2 Quad Q6600 at home

Really just learning how it all works for now.
