I was about to introduce myself to the team, however the BOINC manager seems to make my computer BSOD after 5-10 minutes of it being on, even when none of the projects are running. I remember this happening the last time I tried it out too. Are there any alternative clients?

I had problems with the screen saver causing a BSOD when it turned on. Go and look at your screensaver settings. Mine was set to Boinc. I set it to none and disable the screen saver and that mostly worked.

I ended up disabling the power saving for turning off the monitor and I didn't have anymore trouble. I just have to remember to turn off the monitor when I am am done using the computer.

that happened to me all the time with F@H...so when i started using BOINC I did the same thing as above, I shut off my screensaver on my desktop and it has never BSOD'd. I never ran BOINC with the screensaver enabled, so i can't say it's the only reason it works, but it certainly can't hurt...

i used to have a problem with mine having the monitor turn off. It would never come back up, lol. The issue has long since went away, and is no longer a problem.

I checked it out with WinDbg and the only info it gives is that it's a generic hardware fault, not exactly the best info in the world

BOINC will install a screen saver even when your windows system says there is none installed! Look at it anyway! I had to reset mine to NONE every time I update BOINC.

I don't like BOINC manager either and use BOINC Tasks instead. It works a lot better and has easier to use GUI and better project features... and it can control several computers from one spot.

I checked the screen saver settings and None is selected, so It looks like I'm at a dead end, however, I will definitely try the BoincTasks program, hopefully that will sort my problem, thanks for the suggestion!

EDIT: Well I couldn't get it to link to my BAM account, it kept saying something about error creating an account, I already have an account. I've reinstalled BOINC manager and saw that it had a screensaver option whilst installing, I've disabled that and no BSOD so far!
