ASRock X58 Extreme 3 open box?

Um I really want to save on an i7 930 build due to budget and upcoming college in two weeks so i wanted to know if anyone here has this board and if its worth buying open box. Do i get warranty coverage even if its 1 year at least?

unless the board is visibly damaged you ought to be able to rma it to asrock directly. to my knowledge they aren't as strict about accepting boards as say, evga.

okay so at least if its damaged, i will be good to RMA it, no to newegg but to Asrock themselves? even though it was open box? I don't get why they wouldnt take it, i bought it off a legit retailer yes?

yes to all as far as i know, though you could also rma to newegg if you wanted. they accept open box returns for a month, so if there's a problem you'll only lose a 15% restocking fee.

bump any other thoughts? Never bought open box before, kinda hesistant cause i don't think if it is bad, i will have time to RMA it with college in two weeks. Or is this risk the same as buying a brand new board since you can get a new mobo and it still be defective
post #6 of 8
Same risk, if newegg gets a complaint that a board is bad they aren't going to resell it to you. Odds are someone bought it and returned it without ever using it, or just changed their minds about it. I have bought from newegg open box a few times before and the board has worked perfectly fine. I still have an old MSI 650i laying around that I bought open box from newegg close to 3 years ago.
