There may have been a discrepancy or a problem with their tests to show such a drastic difference, but the gaming gap between dual core and single core cpus in the same price range has been extensively documented.
Can you tell me that you can tell the difference between 40FPS and 80FPS? No normal human can.

Dualcore is great for gaming because all your backround programs like ATI tool, antispyware, virus scanner, ect run on a different core.

Also, dual cores will have better value should you try and sell it, AND dual core will have a heavy increase in performance on new games.

BTW- I have seen tons of reviews in which game that have dual core optimizing patch see considerable performance increase with dual core.
