Thanks guys and thanks to $ilent for inviting me in. Although I have been folding for 8-9 years, until recently, it has fallen a bit by the wayside (although I am very happy with the ppd/electricity use, this is the smallest amount of hardware I have ever folded with). This definitely rekindles my interest though! Also, this is my first time folding with VM and Linux. I took my other 24/7 rig offline so I could play with it more. Best way to learn is to jump right in, right! I may stumble a bit at first, but bear with me.
At the moment, the only config I could get to work correctly were the newest versions of VMW and Ubuntu. Most of my time with the Haswell hardware has been tuning for efficiency and quiet performance (the workstations I sell are based on that platform in the FTO3 mini). My rig has consistently listed at least 31k ppd since I restarted with this config this past weekend, but my OCN stats look a bit funky. Most of the posts I have read lately have the 4770k putting out around 25k ppd, although I have seen some people listing 50k. I am only running at 4.0ghz temporarily as I haven't used Linux in years and I want to be sure the software/settings are stable. Once I am good on that, I will bump to 4.2ghz as I already know that is solid. I have run it at 4.5, but I haven't had enough time to say it's rock solid. I could also just run it on the bench too as the case itself is thermally challenged.
Any thoughts that will help me increase my output are much appreciated. Fold on!
