Okay need some help ... socket 478

motherboard.. have had 2 asus p4c800-e go bad now i think im done with asus.. sorry to say... and finding a ic7-max3 is near impossible in any kind of reasonable price range the ones i have found are up over 250 or so... nuts..

so i need to know what is the absolute best besides the asus and the ic7-max3 for oc'ing. running a northy 3.2 with ocz gold rev 2 ram 1gig. full danger den water setup so heat is no prob... the highest i could get with the asus was 3.76 but ive seen the 3.2 get higher on water... so what to buy... pref from newegg but ill look anywhere... havent been in the socket 478 shopping for a while now. hear good things about epox..?? never used one though.

i need sata w/raid support (o,1) no onboard video, onboard sound is just fine enough for me. must have ethernet/lan support also... what to get.. i want the highest clocks i can get while still having a semi reliable board. my second asus is out on rma now... the first one died with no oc at all lasted like 2 weeks... northbridge burned up... second one just died no signs of any actual damage on the board.. anyway what do i buy... id like to stay around 70-150$ range if possible....

some here have recc msi but i have never read a good oc review of them most of what i read they couldnt get a decent od out of them. gigabyte i hera lots of bad stuff about and cant find any dfi boards anymore. epox was recc on another board to me... help me out im pulling my hair out right now... i want to hit the 4.0 or close mark... i know it can be done ive seen it.. thank you for any help

hey man can u fill out your system info section in your user cp section?

ASUS has the best Intel OC reputatiuon

are you sure your PSU is up to par with your MOBO? you should have 500watt+,
I know I need a new one too

ASUS draws a good ammount of power on the boards alone

how did you northbridge burn up if you have good cooling? you had plenty of case fans right?
if it burned up id get an active NB cooler

great board

have a thermaltake psu at 500 watts i measured it many times and its pretty rock solid one of the best ive owned... coudlnt tell you how or why just did there is a trace to the nb on the board that is black and the nb is melted up good.. i had to re-lap the danger den north bridge cooler...doesnt make sense to me.. anyhow need a new board and just unsure if i want to go asus this time 2 boards and 1 doa later (very first p4c800-e i got) im not really keen on asus now...and those damn ic7's are a fortune on ebay or anywhere i can find em...not spending 250-300 on a mobo... i know i can get to 4.0 with this chip we had it on a friends old abit board running at 4.0 and it seemed pretty solid with water... need suggestions. i geuss if i absolutly hace to go asus again i will but no willingly only if there is nothing else that will clock like the p4p800-e... thanks

If your using a northy, the Asus P4P800-Deluxe linked above is about the best you can get. It isn't worth spending more on a caterwood chipset if your using a northy, a pressy would be a different answer. If you totaly dislike Asus, grab the Abit IC7 or the Abit IS7 if you can't get a IC7.
