I dont see what the big stink is over this game...
These screenshots look very mediocre to me. I'd say the game was at least two years old if someone were to ask me, judging by graphics alone. CSS/DOD:S and BF2 all have better graphics in my opinion.

Its not about the Graphics really that much its about the Game itself. The Elder Scrolls is the best RPG out i would say, thats the stink over the game if you played Morrowind you would know and Oblivion is just taking it to the next level.

believe me, these screenshots do the game no justice what so ever in terms of the graphics. You can't simply just look at the screenshots for this game to determine how the graphics look. Everything ties together. The constant dynamic lighting, the breeze always running through the grass and every leaf. Its just stunning, but you will only see these spectacular visuals on a 7800GT SLI or higher system. These graphics blow BF2 out of the water, because the BF2 graphics are clunky and coded by EA, so it has to suck.

Also take into consideration again, that these people are not hosting the 2mb screenshots that they actually take, they are compressed JPEG versions. So your not getting the crisp image.

Seriously, find someone with a top of the line computer (2x 1gb rams, 7800 SLI set up) Tell them to play at 1280 x 1024, HDR, All Fades to Full, Ultra High... You will crap your pants. Everything just looks freaking spectacular. Also I still think that Telu's pics arn't going all out like my buddies computer.

Again... I love CSS and DoD:S... hate BF2... but this game does kick the ever living poop out of them all in graphics.

Tomorrow I will take screenshots when playing and then put them in a zip file then host it.. How does that sound?

As usual, they did a good job on the game. Kept enough of the old, and put in much of the new. Graphix are beautiful, and you can see forever! And from the sniveling I'm seeing on some other sites...this well should be one of the newest benchmarks. I never heard so much whinning from the rich kids whose mommie can buy them a hot grafix card--only to find out that its almost obsolete. This game is just an intor to the overhead of next gen.--when vista hits, with that os hog ways, a whole new world will open up--and a very expensive and intense one I suppose. The game rocks though--even at about 12 FPS in my case.

OK IL take the compression off the jpg, my screenshots should match those of the previews. I must admit, with the in game settings u wont get anything that spectacular. You need to play around with the ini file so u can increase the draw distance of animated trees, grass and somewhat guess at how the landscape lod works, but i still haven't figured out how to successfully render water without constant glitches, so ALL of the water screenshots that will be posted, are going to be taken mostly whenever the glitches go away.

And on a side-note, the graphics are THE most amazing i have seen, considering. For example, the engine is so well designed that if u think of all of the textures used just for the grass, and each of them with somewhat of an alpha channel and than you think of the trees with who knows how many leaves and branches (all random) and the rest of the vegetation plus that all of them are animated (Strong wind, you'll see the grass sweep how it should) than i don't think that even the doom 3 engine can produce this(in quake 4 there weren't ANY large outside places with a zillion objects, almost all animated, all of quake 4 landscape was sterile to say the least). After you ponder trough that than u start to just imagine the possibilities that havoc has here (i have tried out the telekinesis magic, and lets just say, hl2 gravity gun). After that you have all of the dialog spoken (i have not encountered 2 npc with the same voice so far), only than you start to think by how much this game super-succeeds anything that is out there. And if that's not enough, just remember how limited the game engine in Morrowind was, and there are only about 4000 mods. I will say this now, in 1 year oblivion will have surpassed at least what morrowind holds now in quality modifications, that might seem outrageous, but TES4 construction set is fantastically easy to use. O yeah , good luck trying to render ANY of the scenes in oblivion with another game engine and still be able to play them.

Well doesn't this game run on speedtree for the tree details and stuff?

anyways, does that ini tweak do more than the ingame options? because you can max all those details and stuff and see grass and trees pretty far away
