Welll with that core, week 0306 I'm at 2.7, hit and runs windows ok at 2.8. Just haven't spent the tweak time to prime stabilize it. So I am back at 2.7 until I have a bit of time to fine tune it. 2.7 was prime stable for well over 20 hours before I stopped it. Am thinking I'll top out around 2.9, but have to see. See specs for more info.

Processors are fabricated from a wafer. There are areas on the wafer that are conducive to a higher quality.

The middle of the wafer usually will give a better fabrication than the edge of the wafer. Now this would be a group stepping (many wafers in the same fab unit would be of the same stepping) so it is easy to see that your processor if closer to the edge would be less likely to perform as well as another's processor if close to the middle with each being of the same stepping.

This is why a stepping is just an indicator of ability, not the final analysis.

Hey, just curious as to everything you changed to get from 2.0ghz to 2.6ghz with your 3200 venice... what voltages did you have to change, did you have to do a divider, what memory did you use, etc. I have an Opteron 146 and am able to get it from 2.0ghz to 2.4ghz just by simply upping the FSB and not changing anything else, however anything higher than 240 fsb and it wont post, I have very generic DDR400 memory and I know that I need new memory but dont know what to buy, ive been looking at PC3200, PC4000 and PC4400 memory and dont know what exactly to buy, all I want to do is have my FSB be 260, dont really want to change anything else...

ok your ram is definitly holding you back...also try to up your vcore 1 increment to try to get more then 240fsb...and try running a divider.........ok i changed my vcore to 1.550v and 110% special vcore, 9:10 divier, ram at 2-2-2-5 ocz gold series pc 3200 its bh-5 which if im not mistaken lets me use a lot of voltage but i can run very tight timings but fsb is good upto 240-250 so i had to use a divider...hope i helped....im sure the experts can help your here...im only just getting into this game so forgive me if i advised your worng somewhere+
