Calling all Pentium D 820 w/ SLI mobos!

Thread Starter
Hey all I need help with choosing a new MOBO for my Pentium D 820.
Ive read that alot of the older SLI mobos dont support this CPU, and I dont want to spend a big pile to get something like the ASUS P5N32-SLI prem.
So I was just wondering, do the older SLI mobos have updated BIO'es that allow for the full functioning of the 820?
Im looking at the MSI P4N Diamond right now.
Anyone who has A Pentium D 820 running on an SLI mobo, please help.
Thanks guys.
D~

Hey Dude,

Nvdia and the manufacturers have introduced some economy SLI models and I think the issue of not supporting the 820 is a thing of the past.In regards to the p5n32 deluxe a little care ful shopping will get you one at around $130 U.S. dollars.Great thing about the deluxes is that you won't have to buy anything else, they have more features than most guys will ever use.You won't need network or wireles cards, the onbord 8.1 sound works well.Hell it has 10 usb connections. If you look at it that way the money you won't spend on add ins makes it a steal.I have an 830 in mine but my son's has the 820 (clocked at 3.46 on air) and has reported no problems.I'm a little biased I guess

So does that mean that if I get older SLI boards they all have updated BIOS'es that will allow me to run the 820 in duo core?
Anyone confirm please?
thanks!

Each board is different, even within one manufacturer. It's best to check the website for the manufacturer and see what they say. If you can't seem to find out, I always shoot their customer service an email and ask.

THE P5N32 SLI AND THE P5ND2 SLI WILL BOTH WORK WITH THE 820 IN DUEL CORE. note that the p5n32sli has some problems and will NOT overclock as well.
