2500 Mhz Max on a 3700+?

Thread Starter
I cant seem to get past 2500 mhz on my 3700, im running a dfi nf4 sli-dr, which is supposed to be pretty good for overclocking, but im afraid im not doing something right. All ive been doing is raising the FSB and leaving the rest to auto. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum buddy At the top of the page you will see "user cp" go in there and fill out your details then we can get started. With the correct equipment you should get a very good OC from that CPU.

OK all looks good You will need to do some reading to get the show on the road, try and understand what you can. Take things slowly and you will be on the way to a very good OC and get a great performance hit.

ok set memory to 2-2-2-6, FSB on the cpu to 225. Periodic crashes of Firefox, as well as a fatal error in prime95, rounding .5 when .4 or less expected or something like that. I had read through all of the overclocking guide and it didnt really address these sort of issues, where should i go from here. What am i actually changing with the memory, and why?

Loosen the timings on your ram a little bit. Try 2-3-2-6.

I would say loosen up your memory timings, I usually keep them loose untill I am at my limit, then I tighten them up. Try setting them to 3 -3-3-8. Anyone else agree with me? Better to keep them loose as possible so you know that isnt causing it to error at 225.

Your ram is running out of spec and is creating errors, you can slow it down by putting it on a divider. Not sure which bios version you are running but start with a 180 divider, that will bring the ram back a little bit. If you are planning on doing a reasonably high OC then you will have to set the ram on a bigger divider to keep it from being a problem. Check this link out, can be very handy, just put in ya specs and read the guide.

See how you go.
