Please welcome yanks8981 to the team. He'll be relieving Extreme Newbie of his duties in the i7-1 spot. He is currently folding SMP, but will have Native Linux up very soon folding bigadv.

Thanks. I am currently folding in a linux VM using 12.04 and v7 client because thats all I was able to get to work. I will likely play around with setting up bigadv in 10.10 in a vm on my 2500K so I can have minimal down time getting it to work on my 2600K. Any help would be appreciated from the team!

I am a complete noob when it comes to linux but using THIS guide I was able to get everything up an running.

The only suggestion I have is that you ignore the part about Langouste decoupler, it isn't required and tends to cause issue's with some people.

This may be a dumb question, but can I just use v7 instead and add the -bigadv flag to my CPU slot? I prefer GUI over cmd line, so it would be nice if I could do it that way.

Afaik v7 can't be used to corefix to 12 cores which you need for 6903/6904, and you'd need to be able to get those units to be competitive. v7 works in Linux but I get better consistency running v6 i n terms of PPD even if I'm just running pure SMP.

What exactly does langouste do?
It just let you download a new unit while it takes care of the uploading, a great idea in theory particularly for 6903/6904 but there have been several people with trouble to get it working properly (holding WUs hostage for several hours), I ran it a while but had a 6903 held by Lango for ~7 hours.

I see. I always thought it was necsesary to download WUs at all. Maybe I can get this to work afterall!
