Seeing the plummeting pricing of used 290's on the market I'm strongly considering retiring the 580 and sticking one of these in the folding rig. Anybody have any idea how well the regular 290's (non-X) fold?

That would be Erick's catagory. GPU-W can only go up to GTX 660 non Ti.

Larrs is back folding. thumb.gif

Oh I know, I'm only temping in the GPU-W category. This would be just for my own personal folding/benching usage, not the TC.

Here is a pair of 290's doing 150k each. Seems like that might be towards the higher end according to other posts.

So I have been having trouble trying to get the 7990 to fold right. I have the 14.4 drivers but each GPU is at 925 mhz and is failing after 2%. On 9408's and 9406's. As a side note, the system has only drawn 380 watts from the wall in Heaven(which scored less than my 670's) and while folding the wattage is around 300 W.

Try going back to the 14.2 drivers. See if that resolves your issue.
