Is 2GB too much for an Athlon 64 3000+?

I really don't know much about RAM, what bottlenecks it or anything like that, so I am asking, is 2GB too much for an Athlon 64 3000+?

I was looking to get this RAM, OCZ EL Platinum PC3200 2GB DDR400 2-3-2-5.

It's cheap, only $198.99, so I thought I might aswell grab it for that price.

Also, if you have any other suggestions on different 2GB sets of RAM, don't hesitate to post.

Get the 2 gig mate! Games nowdays require a lot more ram than they used to need. Not too long ago 1 gig or ram was plenty but now 2 gig is the go. 2 gig is pretty much a standard for all gaming rigs built now. You might not notice a huge frame rate increase but the overall smoothness and feel of games with the extra ram is very noticable. Especially is games like BF2\\COD2\\FEAR\\QUAKE4.

That's what I was thinking, I can't wait to get them though, going from 384MB at 133MHz 2.5,3,3,6 will be so much different.

Bah, those DDR500 G.Skill are nice, only problem is, Newegg doesn't ship to Canada, I hate customs, Ncix doesn't carry G.Skill.

Alright, instead of the 3000+ and that set of 2GB RAM, I'm getting this.

OCZ EL Gold GX XTC PC4000 2GB and Open box AMD Athlon 64 3200+

By the way, what could be wrong wtih an open box CPU?

What is Open Box?

Open Box products are returned by the customer, tested by NCIX.com's RMA department and marked down for additional savings. Products have a 30 day defect-free warranty from NCIX.com, in addition to any remaining manufacturer's warranty that's available.

Products are in a "like-new" condition (note that the original packaging may be damaged or missing). Some items sold as Open Box may be factory reconditioned units sent to us from a manufacturer.

I hate to say it but there is a link there that tells you this...
