Nope not trying to have a debate just pointing out that things will be changing. And you will be changing the rules quit often.
It is 4 rigs running those time frames under Ubuntu the 5th Chip is running on Windows and I do have VirtualBox installed on it and it gets the same type of frame times as native Linux does but it has 12Gb of ram on it and I allow the VB 8GB. Although I very rarely run it because fore some reason VB does not play nice with Windows and my wife chews my arse every time I run it.
Remember when you are comparing frame times that there are some who push there equipment to get the absolute max out of there equipment. And you have allot of people with lesser machines willing to go after that big carrot. It will cost them far less to mess up than a person that is running higher cost equipment so they have less to worry about thus more of them are willing to do it. There are others who try and achieve a balance between performance and longevity of equipment my personal opinion is that a person who is willing to push should be rewarded is that not what competitions are about.
I do not know why you need to change the rules just draw the players names out of a hat and change the teams up every 6 months to a year people who are not happy on there team will be on a totally different team in 6 months and will have just as good of odds of being on the #1 team as the last place team, so what difference would it make. if you are going to use your current format. Your original rules and guidelines appear to be fun. As new equipment comes out add it to the next team change.
The point of a competition is to see who can get the most out of what they have. Tell a professional drag racer that has a 200+ MPH funny car that he has, has to sit at the line for 3 sec after his 100 MPH competitor has left the line. There is nothing unfair about making something faster and better than the next guy's rig. Have the classes for the rigs and fold on Compete and have fun doing it do a little bragging or dissing in fun, it is supposed to be a friendly competition isn't it.Edited by Grandpa_01 - 9/18/11 at 5:04pm
