Should I upgrade to 1366?

The build I'm looking at right now is an 1156 build but I was thinking maybe I should be going to 1366 instead so it's more future proof. The i7 860 and the i7 930 are the same price on newegg right now so it wouldn't cost anything to upgrade the processor to 1366. Can anyone recommend a 1366 mobo that is good performance but not more than like $250.

One more thing... is it worth the extra money for a 465 over a 460..?

1366 is worth it for the X58 chipset and triple channel memory

460 is a better deal, 465 is power hungry and performs about the same unless you can unlock it to a 470

I think its better for you to choose your own motherboard since you know what you desire in terms of slot placement

with a GTX460, I believe you are limited to Dual-SLI
with the GTX465, You can do Tri-SLI and you have the chance to be able to unlock it to a GTX470

also in your future build, don't cheap out on the power supply, if you plan to use the power supply in the future builds, try to get a 850+ PSU

Ya, the biggest reason I want to go 1366 is because the higher-end chips willl be coming out for 1366(or so I heard) so it will be more future proof when in a few years ill be ready to upgrade

EDIT: Also do you think that I should get another 4850 and run them in SLI instead of a 460. It'd be running on air so it'd be hot and I'd be stuck at DX10.1 but I'd save about $140 that I could put somewhere else

From what I understan 1366 and 1156 are both gonna be dead in the next year, as for the GFX performance will be slightly better with the Xfire 4850's but you wont get DX11 or the power savings that you would from a 460

Ok so I was looking at the Intel socket release chart on Wikipedia and the next one is due for 2010 Q4 and 2011 Q3 so I'm not worried about not being future proof... I did use the motherboard you suggested and upgraded my build to a i7 930. I think I'll be sticking with the 460 just so there's less power draw and it's cooler.
