CPU: Opteron 185 2.6GHz dualcore, OCs over 3Gigs
MB: Asus A8R - MVP32 solid OCing, good overall performance
RAM: dunno, I use value ram for OCing, but I suppose some corsair or ocz dual channel 2x1Gig can do the job
For the cpu, I think the opteron 175 and the 180 go over 3.0gigs also, so it depends on your budget.
That is very true at stock settings. However, if we are not talking about gaming, this performance gap is much less between the cores at stock speeds. But, 65nm presslers overclock much, much better than their athlon counterparts. You can overclock a Pentium D 920 to have the same performance as an fx60 ! In terms of overclocking, intel pentium D 9XX's win hands down in terms of price per performance in everything but gaming. And btw, on air, don't 'expect' 3.0+ghz on any amd dual core except an fx60.
