I'd recommend reading the FAQs on how to apply thermal grease compounds. It's not a dangerous task, but people tend to apply it in excess.
no not ceramique... its not nearly as good as the arctic silver 5.... AS5 is the best so get that... ceramique is a waste of money compared to arctic silver 5

Dude! dont go for the 7900GTX. They perform approx. the same right now, in a few games, but as you know shaders are being more and more used, and the x1900xtx will be MUCH more effective in future games where shaders are basically everything. The 7900GTX isnt much of a improvement from the 7800GTX and the x1900xtx strongly beats that one. With double the amount of shaders a x1900xtx will be the smarter choice especially thinking about the increased usage of shaders in the future.

I kind of figured the x1900xtx would run Oblivion a little better with its shaders. I thought I could set them up in SLI?

no, you can't run dual ati cards on a sli board. crossfire and sli are different technologies and can only be run on respective mobos. to run sli you need 2 sli ready nvidia gfx cards and a nvidia nf4 sli chipset mobo. to run crossfire you need 1 crossfire ready gfx card, 1 crossfire master card and 1 crossfire mobo.

I would get the 7900GTX. it is a performance gain over the 7800GTX 512mb (which is better than the 256mb 7800GTX) the 7900GTX is very comperable to the x1900xtx and since you are getting a sli board the nvidia card would be the more logical choice

Well with this he can run true crossfire:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131004

How do you like me now? I still prefer the x1900xtx in crossfire as it outpeforms the 7900GTX still and in crossfire wow man you dont want to see that. 7900 is your bang for your buck card.

Hes going all the way with money and he wants a gaming rig and isnt on such a tight budget.

SLI is a more stable system though. I haven't kept up on the crossfire boards, but I heard that there were a lot of bugs w/ them when they first came out... unless the bugs are fixed I'd stay away. Plus you'll get better overclocking w/ the NF4 SLI chipset and you don't have to buy a special master card. any two like gpus can run SLI (so any 2 7900GTX's can be put together)
