G.Skill HZ came today, OC'ing begins - Page 2

I would say it is the RAM its self. I had OCZ Plat. Rev.2 TCCD 2x512 PC3200 on my A8N5X and got 260MHz 2.75v stable on them but stopped. I am really sure they would go more. On my A8N32 I got them to 275MHz 2.85v stable and stopped. I did manage 300MHz and booted to windows just fine. Failed Prime and Pi but ran the 3d marks. I think I needed more voltage but did not push it past 2.9, this was on the A8N5X. I now have the OCZ 2x1GB Gold PC4000 and had zero trouble with my 2.5GHz clock and memory at 250MHz 1:1 3-3-3-8 1T w/ 2.6v. I have not gone farther as I am letting them "burn in". Actually I have just been lazy. So the A8N series boards can do well with TCCD/UCCC chips.

well that sucks, mainly because I don't have any other RAM for backup and my desktop would be down for god knows how long

I might it all again since I've let them burn in a little bit, I tried to OC right out ofthe package so that might have bee the reason

here are some more settings if you like:

stable @ 273 MHz as well. 3-4-3-0

might wanna try the following too:

max async latency/read preamble - auto
dram drive strength/data strength - 7/3
vdimm - 2.63

those were the magic settings for me. leave your timings at 3-4-4-8 to check for stability then you can tighten afterwards. good luck!

lol another HZ thread...i REALLY need to make an FAQ for this ram...

set timings to 3-4-4-8 and voltage to 2.7 and youre going to have to put on a 9/10 divider if you wanna get past 250...im at 2800, cant really get any higher, havent tried either.

I've seen multiple sources say that your board doesn't like a high clock speed with a 1:1 ratio at 1T CPC. Here's one of several I've seen....

Question about dividers.. I dont see anything about that in my BIOS. How would i be able to set it?

I've had 1 stick to go to 260MHz so I know it's capable of going higher or at least that high

My main problem was 1 stick would top out at 245MHz

If it runs stock 250MHz then I'll be fine and wait to get a new board

Also, I know there have been problems with this board and this set of RAM but there have also been problems with this board and my old set of RAM and it worked just fine, along with other people with this setup and have them runnig 270MHz with a 1:1 divider, but I need 2 equally good RAM sticks

I know what I need to set it at. Earlier in the thread it was set to 3-4-4-8 and a 2.6V, I tried 2.7 but that does help if one stick limits at 245 and the other at 260MHz, both in together wouldnt go past 245MHz since one stick was messed up

I get the new set tomorrow, but the compy wont be up until Friday, but I may throw the Air back on to test the RAM sticks individually
