well the thing is, you still might need to tweak timings...so its not all his fault, but what worked for him wont work best for everyone else is true.

I mean to say that 1T was not guaranteed. He gave me instructions, but all still failed. At the end he gave up and told me that it wasn't meant to be and told me to blame A8N boards.

Just got new ones from the RMA, boot at stock settings at 1T. Also, I have tried to lower the CAS to 2.5 and boot at 2T, but failed. Guess I can't have everything, but I'm content in simply getting 2 working sticks!

It's not a matter of tweaking the timings, if 1 stick hits it's ceiling at 260MHz (in Melcar's case) then no tweaking of any sort will allow the RAM to be pushed further. Only a voltage change will to make the RAM mroe stable but if IC's cannot hanlde a certain clock, then no amount of voltage will get it go any futher. The only thing he can do is be satisfied with it being at 260MHz

1T is not guaranteed but the only way to know how well the sticks can OC is by testing them individually, and just clock both sticks at the same clock of the lowest single stick. If they run 250MHz then you wont be able to send them back but if you can only get to 255 or 260 then that's the luck of the draw.

I dont buy the blame it on the A8N boards because they do work, it's just that there are bad sets of IC's going on thopse sticks. There are people on that forum with DFI's having problems and DFI boards are supposed to be the board of choice for those RAM sticks.

I guess I better find some time to check each stick individually. Should I use memtest or just try OCing one stick at a time?

You'll find out what the potential is for each stick by doing them individually, but as I said before, if they can both go over 250MHz but top out at 251MHz+ you can't RMA them

The way I got them stable in about an hour was to use the A64 tweeker program (to edit memory timings without restarting) and looking up stable UCCC DFI memory settings and going from there.

Then once I think its stable, I restart put them in BIOS and prime over night.

Havn't had a problem since.

Alrighty, i tested both sticks. They cant get over 250. But what settings can i test with that will ensure that i can RMA the ram?

What's the highest frequency for both. If they are the same then I have a feeling that it's the board itself and not the RAM but if they are different then it might be the RAM.

RMA the sticks regardless, if you got them from NewEgg you'll get them back in a week

Ok, I've gotten my HZ and they can do 250 3-4-4-8. They will boot at 270 3-4-4-8-1T but fails prime in about 16 minutes. Anyone have some DFI timmings to share for 270? Drive and data strengths? tref etc.? Any links to some reference settings for this mem on DFI Expert, been searching on dfi street but it's not easy, lol.
