Phenom II X4 940BE and 955BE comparison

Other than the socket and ddr3 support, Is there any difference performance wise? I got to run a 940 for a bit and really liked it but my old mb died after about a week. so i sent it back and I'm waiting for the 955 to get here

my mostly new little setup
Phenom II 955
MSI NF980-G65 Motherboard
Corsair 8gb ddr3
Seagate Momentus XT 500GB Solid State Hybrid Drive
2 year old
XFX GeForce 8600 GT XXX and Cooler Master Hyper 212

Little to no difference. I also suggest only getting 4GB of RAM and put it towards a better GPU, unless you require 8GB

An 8600GT is extremely under powered for todays games

true but im not a gamer. I just need the 8600GT to run my 2 screens for now. Thats why I got that motherboard with the 3 pci-e x16 slots. I could throw in 3 cheep cards and run up to 6 screens. the 8600GT is a left over from my old setup
