PS3 UT2007, new screens...WOW! - Page 2

but you're going to need a DX10 card more than likely to go along with that (to get that kind of quality), which will come at a price close to a PS3

I hope you're right Gator, because then the PS3 would be free

I have the eVGA step up you see so I can step up to a G80 for free (as long as its less than $539, or else I pay the difference) I just hope that G80 comes out soon enough, my step up is only 90 days.

Are you kidding Big Boss? The PS3 has an underclocked 7800, so even if it came out right now I'd be willing to bet PCs with 7900s or especially 7800/7900s in SLI would be easily capable of much better graphics than the PS3, not to mention that PS3 is limited to 1280x720 with 2xAA (the PS3 can technically display 1920x1080 for those lucky few with displays capable of that) but I'd be willing to bet that my computer will run it maxed out with 4xAA and 16xAF, considering how well previous games based off of the Unreal engines 1 and 2 ran compared to how well they looked (astonishing performance to graphical beaty ratio lol) I'd even be willing to take bets saying that my computer could run it at a graphical quality superior to that of the PS3 As long as it's DX9, if its DX10 then we'll have to wait until I get my G80 and get Windows Vista which could take a while.

My question is who is going to want to play a purely online multiplayer driven game on a console?

Ever heard of a little game called Halo 2? Barely even has a coherent plot and ends randomly and abruptly yet is still the best selling Xbox title. I think all of those videos are prerendered bullshot. It would be nice if the actually game looks like that but I serverely doubt it will. The companies must put out stupid videos with amazing graphics in order to build hype because for some reason it seems to be the only thing that concerns the average gamer.

Last time I checked, Half Life 2 released, along with CSS, around the same time as Halo 2.

And again I say... What is the point of a multiplayer FPS on a console. Its nothing but a bad game for people who can't afford good computers. There is no other reason unless you are a mindless Halo follower. Not to be rude or anything, but if you want strategy/skill. CSS is lightyears ahead of Halo 2. If you want nonstop action, the you could have also played UT2004 at the same time as Halo 2. I never understood why Halo 2 was as big as it was in multiplayer, when every aspect it tried to play on, got owned by a far superior PC fps.

and I dont know how long you have been following the UT2007 development... But yeah.. it will look that good on a PC. Sure it will look pretty on the PS3, but its full power will be unleashed on a PC. There are numerous videos and screenshots featuring gameplay footage. And remember guys... This is EPIC games we are talking about.. they arn't EA.. or some other similar company.

And yes, Unreal Engine 3 is going to be the first (not sure but I think so) optimized to multi-thread operations.... So yeah.. UT2007 will be freaking optimized

Don't dismiss Halo as if it were nothing. It has its place, as does CS:S. I live on a fully networked freshman hall at college with about 4 XBOXs on it. 4 screens to a console, and its easy for people to join in on a wild game of team slayer or ctf, all the while screaming at eachother from the different rooms. This is only made possible because Halo 2 is what it is... a console game.

I will take the PC version as well, I cant stand going from a Keyboard and mouse to a gamepad, the difference is just too much for me to adjust too now, back in the days of goldeneye things were different, but since Quake 2 I havent gone back yet. PC version will pwn since I doubt you can adjust graphics on the Ps3 heh.
