suggestions on OCin' my 4400 X2

Thread Starter
I'm new here posted last week for suggestion on building my new beast. Done a lot of reading but seemed to have kinda hit a wall the past day or two...I'm wondering what the best OCing programs are for my set up. I've noticed that a lot of y'all are getting speeds of 2.6 GHz, and I'm stuck at 2.4. Right now I'm using the ASUS AI program that came with my MB, but would like something better.

What do y'all think where should I go from here? Are my speeds pretty good for a newbe? I prefer to run under XP 64, but also have 32 bit installed as a optional boot...

Thanks

Don't use the software programs.

Use your BIOS options to overclock as that motherboard offers some decent options for you.

You should be able to go 50 more MHz on the core and I BELIEVE you can get to about 1.9GHz on that memory.

It depends... He only calls it OCZ. What is the model number/type of memory? DDR 400 platinum, EL, gold, etc.

Are you talking about my GPU here? Had a question there also off subject. Should I upgrade the cooling fan on my VC?

Thanks for the link pacman!

good, you might wanna add that in the system specs. OCZ Platinum is one of the best ram series for overclocking

(Hes talking about the videocard)Well dude that depends on ur temps! Go to www.guru3d.com and download Coolbits, if youre not already using it. It will easily allow you to overclock and i think, but im not sure, but i think that it also allows you to monitor temps. You dont wanna exceed 70-75C on max load, and you dont want any artifacts or instability.

And as Xie said, dont use programs for overclocking. You have a very decent mobo for overclocking and you should overclock everything manually. What is probably limiting you right now is maybe your ram timings, see if loosening them or setting a 166 divider if not already running, will help. If not, give a little notch on the vcore and try agian.

Yeah that's what I thought with those kinda numbers. Best I've been able to do through coolbits is my current settings when i go higher I can't get a stable reading from the test...

But I don't think I've gone above or maybe not even hit 60c on the videocard. My best run with 3Dmark06 is in the 6000's that with a full test. From what I cn see by looking at other peeps setup on here I should be scoring quite a bit higher right?

My puter runs pretty cool right now I'm getting 43c at idle (well bitcomet running) on the videocard. CPU and MB both at 36c. Max load so far that I've seen on the CPU is in the 40 range playing HL2.

What are the max temps? I know the setting for the GPU sets the warning at 115c which I thought to be way to hot. Not sure about the MB and CPU either aren't they around 60c or so?
