Vista gamers need 2GB plus of memory - Page 6

when vista shoots through the roof with dx10 ( and trust me , it will, the crysis video like mention in the other post, is *extreme* gaming ), peoples computers will have 4gb of ram, and its gonna be as comon as someone with 2gb of ram. btw, with the new AM2 mobos coming out soon, and the whole DDR2-3 thing, if it all works out, all the pc3200-4200 ram will be pretty cheap.

Why not? Just use FSAutostart! That'll shut everything you want down, and let you know how much RAM is freed.

Vista using 800mb of RAM i thought was a little shocking to be honest but then again im hoping it will run nice and smooth.

That's not technically true. Have you priced the older RAM modules lately? the PC-133 stuff? Older technology does not get cheaper per se, it usually gets more expensive due to supply and demand. How many sticks of PC133 do you think they make new anymore?

As an example I just bought a stick of Corsair Value 512mb PC3200 for a budget system for $50. 3 months ago I bought my 512mb DDR2 PC5400 XMS for $55.

Someday I would like to run 8GB of RAM on my system, but considering a 2GB stick is about $200, I can't see spending $800 on RAM

My next upgrade will be top of the line in late 2006 for Vista and Vista-based games.

haha nice that is a real power saver at 2500 watts. Seems like power supplies are also a problem these days...taking up 500 watts or more...

progress, it's all in the name of progress, If we dont keep moving foward, we're moving backwards, there's no standing still in life.

I'm getting 1X2GB DDR400 very soon (1 to 2 weeks) but it is high density 128X4 ram, would i have a problem with it with my A8N sli premium?
