lol who said DFI ultra-d is killer OVERCLOCKER. - Page 4

DFI boards are really picky with memory...if you want a better overclock get some better ram or tweak what you have now down to the very core, my board and cpu go to 3.0 unstable, but why is that? OH NOES cause of my ram...quit being lazy and learn to use the board before complaining. nobody said it was easy.

Hence why I saw somewhere, that DFI boards should be handled by

A) a technician

or

B) someone who has been overclocking for at least 6 months and knows wha they are doing, and not for beginners.

I dont know if you're a beginner to OC'ing or not but if it's your second board then you're going to go through a lot of trials and tribulations

Just being memtest error free does not make it error free when windows is loaded.

If im correct, I believe DFI used ot be just a middle of the road mob makers till the lan party series really caught on. The internet can do crazy things with products.

A good craftsman or artist never blames their tools.

There are significant differences between an Asus and DFI MB to get the two to run the same requires an approach that is suitable for that MB and components in use. At the end of the day the DFI will provide a better OC over the Asus.. you will need to work on it to find that out.

Also when you run Prime do not use Blend it does not stress the CPU, Memory - use In-Place Large FFTs ...

Memory timings and cooling will play a big part for any system stability check.

The Ultra-D is one of the better OC'ing MBs, it also requires a good PSU, Cooling, CPU, Memory to get the best from it as well.

On a side note, please use the Edit button if adding to the trhead and you are the last post and check your grammer.

Don't give up yet man. Hang in there and keep trying. Your friend that you mentioned in the beginning of the thread, would you be able to borrow his memory and try it on your system with his memory set up since I think you said he had the same board. This way you can is its your memory or possibly something else.
If you end up needing memory then check this out they're ddr400 but they can do ddr500 @ 1.5-2-2-5 their 2 x 512mb which is the same amount you have now. link

Think of it this way....
You got out of a Toyota Corolla.....and got into a Ferrari F-40 race car.
The toyota is one of the most user friendly, low maintenence cars out. The ferrari will need to be totally learned and set up properly to get the best out of it.
