Hi guys!

In Outlook is there a way when sending mail to a distribution list to create a rule or set it up in some way to automatically address the first name of each individial in the message to make it more personalized?

For example when sending out a mass email to a bunch of folks have it start with:

Hi Bill,

Bascially do that for each address it goes to , but so only the name of the respective person is seen by only them, to make it look like it is just commig to them?

YES.

IT can be done using MS word using the mailings and form letter wizard. Depending on the version of office you have its pretty easy. Since word will use outlook to send a email you can set up a csv with the names and other information to set up your primary document and it will set up the form letter. in a email doccument.

here are your steps.

Open Word
Click tools>Letterts and mailings>Mail merge

when it asks you what tipe of doccument select email

Now here is where you can use a existing doccument or create a doccument

click select recipents

here you can select a existing list, or create a list, or use your address book.

next step is to click Write your email message

here you can design the mesasage to suit your needs

put in address blocks, greetings, and other things to personalize your message.

you can then click preview you message

If you like what you see click complete merge

There you go!

hope this helps
