Major Artifacts in HL2: Cinematic Mod

So I saw a post on the cinematic mod of HL2. And since I dont have Oblivion yet, I figured I might as well try it out. Well, the install went well and the game looks a bit better (though the load times are pretty rediculous). but all the sudden, about 20 minutes into the game I start getting these crazy artifacts.

Now I am overclock 40mhz on the core and memory so I figured "uh oh, maybe you messed something up". So I restarted with the same effect. Then I was like "fine, Ill just turn off the OC". I did that and restarted and the game still artifacts. So now I am really wondering about stability.

So I go and loop 3d05 for a short while, no artifacts. I wonder that maybe I am just not seeing the artifacts and they are actually there during benchmarks. So I run ATI Tray Tools artifact tester. 101 seconds with no artifacts at all, even with the overclock.

So do you guys think this is just a weird fluke in the game or what?

Here are some screenshots!

Thats not artifacts, the HUD has messed up, my guess is they got messed during a resolution or other visual effect change or install during of the mod.

Yeah, but they fly all over the screen. It looks so weird and scary. I was thinking my WC setup leaked or something and it was causing errors. No other problems in any other games, though. Not even CS:S or DoD:S or HL2 Original. Im glad its not a hardware issue, though.
