From what I have heard, Crossfire works the same as SLi. You need to have two of the SAME cards. This means the same model number, character for character.

NOT TRUE!!!
Yes, you MUST put a non Crossfire card in with a Crossfire card, that is how it works. So 1 x1900 Crossfire and 1 x1900XT or XTX will work for a crossfire setup.
And no, Crossfire is very VERY different from SLI, you DO NOT need 2 of the same cards, in fact, you can run an x1600 in with an X1900 Crossfire (ATI claims).

KSIMP, just so ya know... you no longer need the EXACT same card for SLI. You can run two different brands completely, even 2 cards with different overclocks on them. They just have to be the same core (like a 7800GTX, or 7900GT, etc.)

but, for ken's crossfire question, you need X1900XT or XTX and an X1900 master card.

thanks guys, but what I really meant was that could I mix the different brands together like the sapphire's x1900xtx and the ati's x1900 crossfire?

on their website it gives a demo of what you can do and it says nothing about needing the same brand card, just same series.
