Problems after installing new 84.21 drivers with XFX 7800GT

Thread Starter
So I installed the new drivers, the "correct" way (uninstall, reboot, Driver Cleaner, reboot, install, reboot.) But now on every boot I become stuck in a found new hardware loop that tries to install software (that it can't find) for: Other PCI Bridge Device, PCI Memory Controller, RAID Controller, and SM Bus Controller. I know all of these devices aren't directly video card related, but it all started as soon as I got the new 84.21 drivers. And, I don't even have a RAID setup.

After a few boots of found new hardware bubbles and windows I decided to redownload, and reinstall the drivers (again, the "correct way") and I'm still having the problem on every boot. My video card is working fine (as far as I can tell) but this is getting very annoying.

Ideas?

Do you have "System Restore" enabled on your system? Also, if you press F8 prior to beginning the OS boot (not the BIOS boot) and choose "Last Good Known Configuration" you might fix this problem.

Oddly enough, F8 brings up a device boot order screen for me, as opposed to the normal boot type screen. I may try restoring later tonight.

i have the same board as you have and heres the sulution... put the asus cd in, close out of autorun, right click on my computer, go to properties, hardware, device manager and right click on everything that has a yellow exclamation mark and hit update driver.. even if you dont have a RAID Array set up updating the drivers wont hurt anything
