PCI-E Motherboard for socket 478?

Thread Starter
Hey there, I have been searching all the websites I can think of trying to locate a socket 478 motherboard that supports PCI-E and I cannot seem to find one. Am I just missing it or is PCI-E not supported on 478 motherboards?

Thank You.

Thank You, however its sold out and only a 3pci board (shoulda mentioned i need 5pci slots). Rep+ for finding one though =)

Guess i will just stick to AGP for now, i dont plan on updating my CPU for another year or two.

I remember seeing a couple but they must be discontinued.

If you're looking into replacing your current MoBo, I'd say sell the 3.2E and you could get a 631 (Cedar Mill) and overclock it to 3.75ghz, after all Cedar Mills can overclock right out of the box with a 250fsb minimum but on a MoBo that has an Intel Core Logic.

I know it does not have enough PCI ports (only 2), but if you happen to run into the MSI 915GM Speedster, be careful. It is 478 pins, but only compatible for Pentium M processors.

Also, how much you planning to spend on a new mobo + video card? I'd guess for a decent setup at least $300? You could consider upgrading your video card only; the AGP version of the 7800 GS runs around $300...

Good luck!

for sale in the united states, albatron is the only company that sells them. i've seen them for sale on newegg once in a while. now ASUS sells them, but only in europe I believe. i've seen them on ebay (2 different models) but they go for top dollar. I personally would just get an awesome AGP card like the 7800GS, 6800GS (The route I took) or the X800XT.

Ok, problem solved, I know it isn’t exactly top of the line but didn’t want to spend too much money on old technology. I ended up getting a BFG Tech (I am a fan of BFG) NVIDIA Geforce 6600oc 256MB DDR. It was only 179 and runs better than I expected, have yet to find the need to oc it to get full graphics on the games I play.

Thanks for the help guys, guess I will get up to date with my graphics in a year or two... Doesn’t really hurt though, I always have been about 2 years behind in technology when it comes to graphics cards
