1.67v going through my 3200 venice on air..safe???

Thread Starter
well like in the title my bios says ive got 1.67v pumping through my 3200 venice core, for some reason my 3200 is very voltage thirsty and needs alot to get going and stable..im at 2.6gha right now...also i have a lapped Big Typhoon and as5 in use right now which keep my temps at:
Idle : 29-31 degrees
Load : 38-39 degrees, which i think is ok but with that much voltage going through my cpu is it safe?...

as you can see cpu-z reports it as 1.648v

btw 2.6ghz was my goal and its been reached and i dont plan to oc this cpu anymore??..
so opinions and feedback would be appreciated

Woo boy, you like pushing the limits eh? But as has been stated before, you may have a chip that "was on the outside of the wafer" and therefore, needs some more juice. As long as your temps are good, you should be OK. I have mine at 1.62v and have been fine for months now. Just make sure those temps stay reasonable.

That voltage is fine, I wouldn't worry too much. Most people here worry about voltage too much and then dump the comp for a better one after a year lol.

Nice oc there, keep going until the increase in mhz isn't much compared to increase in voltage (2700@1.7 is ok, 2750@1.8 is dumb)...

thanks for that renegade...i didnt know about this "outside of the wafer" business, but i think i may have read about this somewhere else..im a lil confused ....but yea i do like to push the limits...but i dont know something at the back of my mind is telling me that, that much voltage is a bit too much...how long approx would my cpu last would you say?.....i do plan to upgrade my cpu in say 2 years or so with a high end skt 939, by then prices would have dropped...i hope

It'll last longer than 2 years at those temps. Don't worry too much. It is a nice OC BTW. Glad you were able to reach your goal!

I have the LBBWE stepping also.......Mine is running at 2.4 but will not run Prime95 for longer than 10 seconds...My RAM is on 166 Divider...I don't know what my problem is, I wish I could reach your OC!!!!!!!

BTW, how did you know to increase your voltage? Did it not boot, or were you running torture tests?? Mine will boot, and seems to run fine.....just wont push Prime

to increase voltage just enter your bios by pressing del button (most commonly) on start up and go into your overclocking options or whatever your motherboard has in the bios, sorry im not too familiar with the epox mb's...just read the faq's and guides to get going..they really do help alot

woah! My cpu gets unstable at 1.45v! How the hell do you manage 1.62v?

EDIT: Holy mother of someone! Your -12V rail is at 9.32V????
