Oh boy this thread is gonna get big fast...

IMO CRTs are still the best for gaming. But factors such as weight and desk space usually warrant a LCD. I have a Dell P1230 and am very happy with it's perfomance. It's a CRT BTW. Plus the other thing you have to figure is this: A CRT maybe cheaper, but it will cost a lot to get a big one shipped as it is heavy and bulky. I picked mine up locally, so this was not a factor for me. LCDs are getting better and once this CRT goes, I will be getting a LCD (as long as I can get a no Dead Pixel guarantee for under $325).

LCD's have come a long way....yrs ago you wouldnt use an lcd for gaming because of ghosting and bad picture qaulity... but nowadays an LCD is just about the same as a CRT. when looking for a good lcd, make sure it has a response time of 12ms or less and contrast ratio of 500:1 or greater... if it meets or excededs those specs... your good to go.

but CRT's still have a slightly better picture qaulity, but they are as im sure youknow huge and very heavy, and dont exactly look very pretty, so if you would like a more ergonomic and stylish monitor... the LCD wins in that dept.

I love my CRT, even if it is a post-good LCD model. It has .2mm dot pitch, and supports 1152x864@75hz. Unfortunately, 1280x1024 is still only at 60hz...

However, LCD screens are getting a lot better.

what other questions? the dell 19" if it has greater than or equal to 500:1 contrast ratio and less than 12ms response time is a great monitor... dell actually makes some pretty good monitor unlike their comps....

CRT is better, but for the average gamer a nice LCD with a response time under 8ms is fine. Most people dont notice a difference. Just dont but one of those 30ms, or 20ms ones, those will be really bad, keep it under 8ms.

under 12ms... i know many of people that have 12ms and 14ms lcd's and have no problems at all with ghosting or anything..... so 12ms or under is more than quick enough.
