What is the BSY error?

As per title. I've googled it, and found how to fix it, but what is it? How would I be identify whether or not I have this error? Thanks.

upgrade your firmware to cc49 asaap, then you cn stop googling around.
if your hdd is already paperweight, then try the BSY or LBA=0 method, you hv nothing to lose.
