Is 63C too hot for Pentium D 830?

Thread Starter
Please help, this is my current setup .. and I think my cpu is running a little too hot ?

Pentium D 830 3.0g Smithfield
Asus P5WD2-E Premeium
2G PC4200/533mhz
2 SATA RAID 0
ATI Radeon X300 series 128MB
Onboard Sound
Aspire X-Navigator Case/W-PS 500watts
Thermaltake Big Water SE

I'm running at 4.01G right now .. ran prime95 for over 8 hours and 1 of the test fail at 8 hours 10 minute mark ... I'm not bother by this issue but kinda worry about the heat issue .. even running at stock speed my cpu still get into the upper 50C ... I've tried bout 3-4 different cooling product .. from mini WC to Big Typhoon and now I'm on Big Water SE but it still seem doesn't make any different ... so I'm wondering if my cpu is suppose to run that hot ?? or I did something wrong ..

I tried to re-seated the heatsink several time and yes , I also tried to applied some of those Artic Silver thermal ... follow the guide here .. I even tried to replace the coolant (came with Big Water) with some of the heavy duty for auto .. Purple Ice or something ... but still didn't help much ... $30 to lower 1C ?? kinda pricey

My current setting
FSB/RAM = 267/267 (set 266/266 in bios ... but somehow it went up 1mhz in windows)
Vcore 1.4125
PCIe 105
PCI 33.33
everything else is in auto mode

any suggestions/help would be really appreciated

Thanks for reading.

That is hot! I know some of those 8xx cpus are hot--but I believe 65 C is as high as you want it to go. Man those are some good coolers you have tried--I wonder what to do--Phase Change?

Well, you've tried all these different solutions and they've all proved to be no different.

I was about to just say you're doing something wrong, but yeah, that's quite strange.

Maybe it's just a faulty temp sensor, try any other programs?

I used both asus probe and speedfan and they both report the same , so it cant be the programs ... plus you can feel the heat coming out too if I close the door .. I had to leave my room open all the time to let cold air get in.

I'm in Houston Texas ... my room temp is about 67-70F ..

Does anybody in here have experiences with Danger Den -40 coolant ?? Are they any good ? I really wonder if I put that thing in is going to help to lower the heat ... to be honest .. I dont want to waste any "chip chunk" money any more.. rather save all that $20 , $50 for the OCZ phase change.

Re-apply your thermal grease. Make sure that you put smaller than a pea sized drop on there, and make it so that it is all spread out so you can almost see through it. It should be a very very thin layer. Also you can try lapping your heatsink.
