Solution for flickering screen with nVidia SLI - Page 2

Hi, this is my first post...
i saw this post recently, and im dealing with an issue since a year and a half now... i must say that i DO NOT have SLI ... but have similar issues, my ingame black/white levels are WRONG, causing a flickering wich is extremely annoying.. let me copy/paste a post i made in the nvidia forums :

Hi... I'm terribly frustrated with my videocard. Let me start:
Like a year and a half ago, i attached my PC to my Philips LCD tv screen, to play some games... everything was good. Then, when i returned to my monitor LCD ( LG ) troubles begun... The desktop, games, videos, EVERYTHING looked REALLY bad, washed out darks, etc . i managed to fix that, creating a custom resolution for my PC, with the nvidia control pannel . My pc looks fine now, but almost EVERY game is still having the same issues. I have read every friking post about this, it seems that mi video card assumes that im still using a HD TV, and automatically assigns an incorrect color space... i tried everything related to that, but nothing woked.. ppl say that just aplying a custom resolution fixes it, but its not my case.. it fixes the problem for the desktop, but ingame, everything look terrible as allways. A weeks ago, i formated my pc, thinking that it will FINALLY fix the problem... no sir, the problem still there, games looks TERRIBLE, and im getting tired of this. I have a GeForce 295 GTX, with latest drivers ( i have tried many other drivers, its not that ) . Please dont tell me that it's my monitor gamma, im not a fool, and avoid that kind of basic answers... I dont know what to do, i curse the day i attached my PC to the TV.

So PLEASE, somebody have had the same issue? somebody knows how to fix this? HOW DO I FIX WASHED OUT DARKS IN MY GAMES?

Oh, i forgot to mention: When i play a game in WINDOWED MODE, it looks fine, because it's using the desktop gamma, the one i made with the nvidia control pannel, in the custom resolution ... but when i fullscreen the game, it looks horrible again

PLEASE, help me ):

So it's basically that ... i have to add recent events: Today, i managed to FIX IT... i installed the drivers that came with the video card, 182.xx , those are THE ONLY ONES that fix the problem ... BUT, im losing the improvements that later drivers could give me :S, AND for some reason, my video card starts to heatu up REALLY fast, ike, in a matter of a minute, i reach 105 degrees ._. ... so it fixes the black/white levels issue, BUT adds a new one, which is kind of the same, i still cant play games as i want to ... i have to say that i tried driver sweeper, etc.. and installed a LOT of drivers, like 197.xx , 255.xx , 266.xx , 270.xx , 275.xx , 280.xx , 290.xx , 295.xx ... NONE of them works, ONLY the ones that came with the video card, in the disk :S

PLEAAAASEEE, help me guys u.u ... obviusly it's not a HARDWARE thing, it's something from the software, something that seems cant be resolved O.o ... and it ALL started when i attached my pc to the TV .

EDIT: I would post a screenshot, but when i take it, everything looks fine in the image :s ... that's because the problem is only visible in a game ... images, videos, everything else looks well ... so confusing ._.

You should make a separate thread for that issue, it doesn't address the issue in the topic .

I'm gonna bump this old thread because I can't believe this worked. I've been doing pulling cards and trying all sorts of combinations of things, and was about to RMA one of cards and a little wiggle and perfection. thumb.gif

if possible thats why I always prefer the hard 3-way sli bridge (in either 2-way or 3-way, if it fits)
only fits one way, fits secure, almost impossible to screw up

Maybe some HDMI color space settings got messed up? Is your refresh rate right?
Hello,

I was having problems with Sauerbraten in full screen mode, and suspected a refresh rate issue.

Thinking "why not" after reading your post I turned my PC off and flipped the bridge 180 degrees (doing this, I noticed how it indeed seemed kind of flimsy when fitted to the cards).

After rebooting I fired up Sauerbraten in fullscreen mode and watched how the graphics were fine for a few seconds but gradually got worse.

So I did what I thought I wouldnt. I nudged the bridge while the computer was on and could actually see how the flickering changed. So I nudged it again, and there it was: perfection.

I would NOT recommend anyone to touch the electronics of your machine while its on. But adjusting the bridge indeed solved the problem.

Sorry for the bump, but since the solution is kind of unlikely I figured i'd post my thanks.

Also going to backup this little fix. I bought 2 x 670's a couple weeks apart. Was getting green flickering on skyrim and while using furmark. I wasn't very happy. Before I tried switching/moving my sli bridge I was reading posts on faulty cards, I know it can happen, but they were brand new, AND both worked well by themselves. Anyway, I switched to a different Sli bridge that came with my old P6T, it worked perfectly. I still had a problem though. The slots on my P9X79 Pro my 670's were occupying were only x8 link width...I wanted the full x16 (I know x8 is sufficient, but if the capability is there, I want to use it) So I moved my 2nd card to the proper slot down. Problem, my P6T sli bridge that worked perfectly wasn't as long as the one that came with my P9X79 Pro, so I couldn't use it. Pissed again cause I didn't even think of the length before I switched slots haha. So instead of moving GPU's around again, I decided to try the old bridge again, this time I put a little more pressure when I pushed it on (just a little) and it seemed to very subtly click into place, and voila, it worked perfectly. Happy ending to my boring story!
Hope this helps some more people out because I honestly looked forever on a possible solution and didn't find it until AFTER I discovered it myself.

I would also agree about the Bridge feeling very flimsy, like they are to loose... One of the bridges I used seems to fit better and felt like it clicked into place, another one I had fit a little more loose, they did both work though.

I also do not like the thought of moving the sli bridge around while the computer is on.. Far more intelligent people than me will say its fine, but if your paranoid like me, I would power off then adjust and power back on. smile.gif
