LiLChris Gets credit for the idea here.

This thread will be for anyone to post themes they use, or have found, and for users to share tips and help troubleshoot.

Firstly, a description of BURG:

Quote:
BURG is a brand-new boot loader based on GRUB. It uses a new object format which allows it to be built in a wider range of OS, including Linux/Windows/OSX/FreeBSD, etc. It also has a highly configurable menu system which works in both text and graphic mode. Additional features like stream support and multiple input/output device are also planned.
How to install BURG
(from 'OMG!Ubuntu'):
Quote:
Add the BURG PPA:-
Code:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:bean123ch/burg
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install burg burg-themes
Install BURG to your Master Boot Record

Install burg to your MBR using the command below. Substitute ‘hd0’ with an alternative drive if needed.
Code:
sudo burg-install "(hd0)"
Update BURG entries

You MUST run this step or you may be left scratching your head upon reboot when nothing shows up
Code:
sudo update-burg
List of commands - while in BURG

Yay! Thanks for doing it.

Simple thing till I find time to do something more creative.
Still learning how to mess with the settings.

BURG permits installation to external devices.

For instance, once BURG is installed on the machine, you write it to the MBR with:
Code:
sudo burg-install "(hd0)"
Just replace 'hd0' with your USB drive identifier I would think. Run 'sudo update-burg' afterwards to check it got the right boot images though.

Another option would be install from Linux on the USB drive.

Back your data up if you try anything. I cant say its 100% accurate.

Don't make your life more difficult. Let it be there. Things can go wrong with Windows and then you have no control, in contrast to linux.

I respect that train of thought, but I am a perfectionist. I wont stop till I get it looking right, and if it breaks, I'll start over.

However, it was quite simple in the end. I ended up revoking execution permissions from the 30_os-prober script in BURG, and used a custom chainloader instead, allowing me to just have the Windows 7 boot.

I also got around to creating a theme:

Hmm BURG Manager isn't working for me.
When I open it, I type in my password then nothing happens.

I did get BURG installed properly.
